Mother's Day and I'm pissed

I'm serious - if it wasn't Aiden's 4th birthday today I would have left to go treat myself but I won't spend the day away from him. We don't do gifts and big deals for Mother's Day/Father's Day but the dinner the person wants and sleeping in are usually part of the day. DH made no mention of going out so when I food shopped yesterday I told him I picked what I wanted him to make. Later in the day when we passed a restaurant he likes he asked if we could go there soon - maybe for Father's Day. Sure. Over dinner last night I reminded him that I wanted to sleep in this morning.

This morning Quinn woke up at 6. DH fed him in his room and then brought him back to our bed! He was rolling around, poking me in the face, crawling on me - wide awake. I said "This isn't what I had in mind when I asked to sleep in." DH had the fucking nerve to ask "Where would you like me to take him?" Are you serious? Any of the other 9 rooms of the house. He said "You can go back to sleep after Aiden wakes up." Are you fucking serious? I got up and left the room in tears and now HE is mad at ME for calling him selfish.

Dude, I'm in the same boat. C woke up at 6, and you know whose still up with her? Me. I told him I wanted to sleep in too, days ago. When I left the room with her I told him that I wake up every.single.day with her. He couldn't wake up with her for once? Then he was bitching about how she woke up 3 times last night...but I was the one who woke up to console her and feed her! Like wtf. DH is definitely an a-hole right now.

Last night wasn't so great either- he was basically lecturing me saying that we needed to start trying for #2 right away, even though I still wanted to lose some weight before trying. Oh, and yesterday we needed to buy a Mothers Day gift for MIL and buy a new couch, and the whole time he was just bitching about how he still had a hang over from drinking the night before. Maybe he should of restrained himself from drinking so much, just maybe?!?

Good job, H's.

Hopefully both our H's will realize that their being big douchey babies today.

That sucks but try to enjoy your and your sons special day...can you leave for an hr to do something for yourself like breakfast, quick mani/pedi or a trip to your favorite shopping place?

Oh and it gets worse. Aiden woke up to an entire display of new action figures that DH bought for him. We had agreed that the swingset and our upcoming trip were his gift and we took him yesterday to pick out a new book. We had wanted to get him a bike but since we decided no gifts, my brother bought it for him. Now I wake up to this toy store in our living room that I had no say in. He's always doing that - elaborate gifts that he keeps secret from me. As if I didn't WANT to give our son a gift. Of course, Aiden doesn't know how it went down so he thinks we both bought them but I know and now I'm even more pissed.

Sounds like that restaurant YH wants to go to for Father's Day shouldn't be visited for a few years...and super weird and annoying about the action figures.

The day will definitely go down in history as my shittiest Mother's Day but I was still able to enjoy Aiden's birthday. DH and I barely spoke more than two words until around 4:30. It was kind of easy because my brother had come over so that we could all take Aiden to the zoo. Apparently everyone in the state had the same idea because there were literally hundreds of people in line so we left and went to a state park. We played at the beach there for a few hours.

DH had tried making small talk with me during the day but I really wasn't having it. Finally when my brother had Aiden away from us I told him how upset I really was about how he handled the entire day. He said he knew and that he was sorry. It was pretty hollow since he could have apologized at any point during the day. I told him that I wasn't trying to be a martyr or toot my own horn but I'm a good mother to our boys and I don't ask for damn near anything and it was a real slap in the face to be denied a couple hours of sleep. I also told him that it feels like we're divorced when he chooses gifts for the kids without including me. He says he gets it and doesn't mean to exclude me but we'll see what happens.

I finally told him I wasn't still actively angry but that I was still hurt that he really wrecked the whole day. That's pretty much where it stands.

I'm also sorry for everyone else who had a shitty day. It shouldn't have to be such a big damn deal to have someone show appreciation for you. I don't expect "atta girl"s on a daily basis. I'm sure you all feel the same - we love our kids and don't see being a parent as a job but it still isn't easy and it would be nice to hear a thank you. Honestly, yesterday would have gone a lot worse if it wasn't Aiden's birthday. I refused to be so selfish as to let my anger ruin his day but I'm really still pretty upset about it. DH was up all night with an upset stomach and this morning cracked his toe into the footboard. I told him it was karma for being such an ass yesterday.
