Dairy question

I know you aren't supposed to give babies whole milk until after 1 year, but our pedi said we could start yogurt at 8 months. I just bought some to start this week. But why is yogurt ok and milk isn't?

  • Oh yeah, she did say Mac and cheese is ok too. I didn't think about that milk is in that too. Thanks for that info!

We were given the OK for yogurt at 6 months.  He LOVES it. :)

To those who have given yogurt, do you buy baby yogurt or just regular yogurt? I just got DD the Gerber graduates yogurt but that's a bit more pricey. And it creeps me out that it's not refrigerated.

I just bought whatever brand of plain whole fat yogurt my store carried.
This is what I bought too.

I usually do Yo Baby organic yogurt from Stoneyfield which is refrigerated.  I also wondered about the Gerber kind because of the no refridgeration.  He did have to have that kind once though because the store we went to did not have the Stoneyfield ones.

    We've used Yo Baby too.
  • LO loves the yobaby yogurt in banana and mango flavors. If anything it has helped her be less constipated when her other solids back her up.

  • Nowhere in my town has the Yo Baby. That was my first go to. But from not on I'll just buy the whole fat one from now. Thanks!

Any babies who are dairy free tried yogurt? I bought some coconut milk yogurt and was going to see if he likes it.

I have been too scared to try it. I will see how my dairy experiment goes first then maybe.

I make Greek yogurt in my yogurt maker and it is so simple and much cheaper than store bought. I just need to buy 1 cup as a starter each month. You can also make yogurt in a crock pot.
