Bumpies with sewing machines halp!

DH is so bad at keeping secrets he had to give me a Mothers Day gift today since it came in the mail.  Im super excited its a serger!  But Im confused does this cancel out the need for a regular sewing machine?  Im going to need to watch something on youtube to figure out how to use it but any tips or great info websites from you sewing pros have would be appreciated    :D

    That's a great gift! Sergers are great but deft will not replace your sewing machine. Enjoy!

    I am so jealous. I've been after DH to get me a serger for a while. You'll definitely want to keep your sewing machine. Most stores that sell machines offer classes on how to use them.
    I'm curious to know what you plan on sewing. There's a huge sewing comunity online for sewing clothes. I've learned a lot through blogs.
