Pregnant with twins & reduced work schedule

OB has informed me that I need to go part time (35weeks with twins).
So if I am working half of what I was before, does this mean that when I go out for FMLA when babies come I will only be compensated for STD at my new part time rate?

Re: Pregnant with twins & reduced work schedule

  • At my work, they would go ahead and start your FMLA time when going part time (you would use 20 hours FMLA and work 20 hours per week). We would have to use sick/vacation to make up the missed hours. If we didn't have enough sick/vacation to cover it, then they would do leave without pay for the 20 hours you aren't working. I think the STD would be based on full time.

  • When I was pregnant with my daughter I worked 30 hours a week and used 10 hours of ETO a week. This didn't effect my FMLA - I was stilled compensated for a 40 hour work week.

When I was pregnant with my twins I stopped working at 34.3 weeks. My OB wrote me out for medical reasons. Then my FMLA started at this time.

    Ella - 10/19/10
    Julia and Aubrey - 4/3/14

That is nice that your employer didn't make you use FMLA when you worked 30 hours per week! My employer made me use FMLA for OB appointments when I was pregnant, even though I had enough sick time to cover it. If I was gone 4 hours for an OB appointment, it was counted as 4 hours of sick and 4 hours of FMLA. It sucked!
