What exactly is the bouncing on the ball supposed to do?
I bounce my daughter to sleep twice a day (nap/night). She was colicky in the beginning and it was the only way to calm her down and get her to sleep and she still loves it and is 20 months old, lol.
I hope it will bring on labour sooner?
Re: Bouncing on the Ball
ETA: She also said that it helps get baby in good anterior position.

It's a BOY!
The purpose of using the ball is that you sit on it in such a way that it allows your hips to open up and the uterus to fall forward, into a more natural and comfortable position. That helps relieve a lot of the pressure and it can potentially help get the baby down where it needs to go.
It's mostly for comfort, relief, and pain management. It's not to induce labour.
ETA: a friend said that bouncing on it while in labour helped her. I don't bounce on it much right now. But the pelvic rocking is really good for you, as @jschwind22 mentioned.
It's a great way to get baby in a good position for birth (anterior). It can relieve pressure in the pelvis & hips as others have noted. But most importantly it's a great tool during labor when going med-free.
