What Would You Think?

DH and I have set up our registry and we have some items on there that I feel are pretty pricy (ex $500 stroller). We set up the registry with the items we want and would purchase ourselves even if we didn't receive anything from family and friends. Also, we went gender neutral since I plan on using all big ticket items for future kids as well.

My question is, would you be annoyed to pull up a registry only to find that many of the items are pricy?

I don't think I would be annoyed. But I would probably think it was inconsiderate not to put items that are an array different price ranges. I would be afraid I would get less because people just couldn't afford it or refused to spend that much money.

Up until a few months ago I would have been annoyed, but I had no idea how much all this stuff cost until I started researching it for myself. Definitely make sure you have enough lower-cost items on there, though.

I would be annoyed if everything was very expensive- but there should be plenty of things you need in all price ranges.

  • As long as you also have a range of price points and aren't automatically expecting people to purchase those items, I wouldn't be annoyed. Some people like contributing to a group gift and choose bigger ticket items when doing so.

  • Like PP suggested, the best registries have items in a good range of prices, so if you think most of the things listed are really pricy, it's worth it to look for and add a few cheap things.

If I saw a registry like that, I wouldn't be annoyed, but I WOULD buy off registry...probably a cute outfit or two, or something nice for mom, or I'd bring diapers and wipes. :)

  • There are so many things that are even just $30 and under you could put on there. Think shampoo and baby wash, wash cloths, towels, etc. i would be annoyed if it was all pricey stuff. But Im not a big spender, so maybe thats just me.
  • Thanks you guys! I do have lower priced items as well, just the "main items" (crib, car seat, stroller...) are on the more expensive side. But I have lots of bottles, bath items, ect. that fall under much more reasonable prices.

Sounds perfect! Sometimes people decide to go in together on a big ticket item. DH's 2 aunts bought us our travel system, for example. :) It's definitely good to have everything on your wish list on the registry.

As long as you have a range of options, I think you are fine! I would definitely not be annoyed, and probably assume the 'big ticket' items are on there in case family wants to buy a big present.

  • I guess you can hope people go in on gifts together.

Otherwise, you risk people buying things you don't like without receipts and from stores you don't like, to fit their budget. Just put cheaper items on there.

  • If you only put expensive things on your registry, you're going to get tons of stuff you don't want/need. (Which I did anyway. . . thanks family..)

I do think it's smart to put EVERYTHING you want/need on the registry, because depending on where you register you'll get a coupon for 5-15% off anything you buy after your shower.
