Anyone else's LO have severe seasonal allergies?

It has become increasingly obvious that DS has severe seasonal allergies. 2 weeks ago I had him outside for maybe 15 mins and he woke up w/ a goopy eye and congestion. Dr said it was pink eye and a slight cold. It cleared up by the weekend.

Last weekend we went strawberry picking and the next morning he woke up w/ the same eye all crusty and congestion again. I suspected allergies, but when I called the on call nurse she said it was probably the cold still, but may be allergies.

Yesterday we went for a walk and chilled outside in the sunshine and he, again, woke up w/ the same symptoms. Clearly these are allergies, right? No fever, just a crusty eye and slight congestion. Called a pharmacist who said to wait to talk to the Dr on Mon before giving him anything since he's so young and a preemie.

Poor poodle seems like he feels ok, but not the best. Any advice?

    My LO has a crusty eye, too! Was thinking it may be a clogged duct because my pedi told me they don't get allergies this young...but I'm not 100% sure I believe her! Hope your LO feels better

  • I thought my LO had allergies too bc every time were outside for an extended period of time, she gets a super stuffy snotty nose later that day/next day. Dr said it's rare for babies this small to have allergies, but also said Benedryl or Zyrtec for kids can help treat the synptoms. I have a preemie (30-weeker) and she said those meds would be fine for her.

    I'm still not convinced it's not allergies...
  • @jgslr can you explain this goopy eye? If you wipe it does it come back?

    It's basically like morning eye crusties, but more than usual and particularly on one eye, the left. I wake up with my right eye all gunky, like even my lashes stick together.

    @carawasa
    Yep, only one eye for is too, and it's also his left. I've got a friend who's sending me so essential oils to test out so I'll report back w/ the verdict.

    If LO doesn't have allergies then she has a gnarly cold that's been lingering for a month or so now...
