Can I skip a day?

LO is FF and I pump my milk and freeze it in hopes that she can drink it later because my dairy consumption seemed to give her painful gas. I'm really bad about making time to pump, I normally only pump twice a day at most, but often just once a day and I only get about 3-5 ounces total (which is kind of fine since she doesn't even drink it right now.

So it's after midnight, I just want to get a snack and go to bed but I haven't pumped at all today. I do leak a bit but I've never gotten engorged or feel rock hard. So comfort isn't an issue, but will skipping a day really mess up my supply or make me dry up, or is just one day ok?

I mean each of us is different. Me personally I have to stay on top of a pumping schedule or my supply suffers. But as long as you're still lactating some I imagine you can build your supply back up, lots of threads on increasing supply on M14. Good luck!

Hmmm. I EBF and if I skip a day of pumping (I pump 1-2x/day) it's NBD, but my breasts get plenty of stimulation from LO anyway....I'd say in your case better not to skip, but I really have no idea. :-( Better safe than sorry?

If you only pump once or twice a day then I wouldn't skip. It isn't that time costuming to pump so infrequently.

I bought a single manual pump for times like this. Sometimes I don't feel like going through the hassle of busting out the electric pump, plugging it, getting all the tubes, etc. So instead I just grab the single manual pump, and squeeze out what I can and it's no bother at all. It was only like $40...well worth it to me, for those lazy times

Good idea! OK so I won't be lazy and just pump. It generally only takes 20 minutes, and I've been farting around on FB much longer than that, sigh.

To be honest, if your only pumping once a day and not feeding directly (I understand why because of the dairy which is absolutely fine) then it seems your heart isn't really into it anyway. Your LO is getting FF which will be great for them anyway, I wouldn't bother pumping if it's not what you really want to do. I have unfortunately had to go back to exclusively pumping and bottle feeding (no formula) and it takes A LOT if commitment. If I had to formula feed anyway and only pumped once a day and saw it as a chore, I don't really see the point....

Ever have that "duh" moment when you realize you could have saved 30 bucks on the hands free bra and just do what you suggested.
