I am so frustrated, tired, and anxious
I'm taking school full time with 5 weeks left to go and we are approaching final projects and studying for final exams. All my classes are pretty intense and work heavy (biology, chemistry, and physiology classes all with labs).
I'm also working. My job is "part time" but the last month they have been making me work full time which is too much for me. My job requires me to stand on my feet for long hours and I am always scheduled to work til 11 pm. Since I have to be up at 5am for school every day I am not getting enough sleep or study time. My grades are suffering because of this. My only days off are the 2 days a week that I am at school all day.
My boss knows I don't want to work this much but tells me "If I need you, I need you, there's nothing I can do." Quitting is not an option, I need the income.
I called in sick today (my 1st time since being pregnant and probably in over a year, I always work thru colds and minor illnesses) in order to de-stress and rest and maybe get some homework projects done (my boss was mad I called in). But the de-stressing part is not happening since I found out my boss scheduled me to work I day I specifically requested off because my husband and I have tickets to see a famous comedian. The tickets were a gift I purchased for my husband and we rarely get time together so I was excited to have one day to get out of the house and forget everything stressing me out here.
I am so burnt out, this would have been hard for me not being pregnant, and I feel like no one really understands all these pressures and difficulties except for you ladies. So that is why I am here venting and being AWish.
Feel free to relate if you are also feeling under pressure
Re: Stress
@scarfbandit haha we are going to see Jerry Seinfeld, my 25 year old husband is a huge fan (can quote the show seinfeld word for word). I've never heard any real stand up from him that wasn't in the show so it should be a fun experience
Hang in there. When its all over, it will have been worth it! Thoughts and prayers going out to you, and I hope your employer figures out a way to make things more doable.
So far today I completed an extra credit project, found a co-worker who may be able to cover my shift for Seinfeld day, and de-stressed by playing some piano on my new keyboard so not too bad of a day
I thought I had it bad now with working 50 hr weeks and getting ready to move!
I agree with PP that maybe you should speak with your doctor. Sounds like your boss isn't willing to budge too much. I get that he needs you, but you need to take care of yourself. Him not having anyone else to work should not be your problem. If you burn yourself out he's not going to have you at all!
Glad you were able to get a day off to rest a little. Hope everything works out ok, hang in there!
