October 2014 Moms

Care to share your list?

We don't find out if baby is a boy or girl until June, but DH is in a hurry to settle on a name for either ASAP. Our original plan was Cora for a girl and Mark for a boy, but DH told me today that he isn't sure about Mark anymore.

I'm stumped! We looked at some name websites and browsed through lots of options, but I haven't found a name that would really be a great fit yet.

DS is Henry, and we prefer traditional, classic names. This is my "list" of names that I came up with today, that I think are cool but that I'm just not sure about:

Cedric
Cornelius (nn Neil)
Elliot
Gabriel
George
Rodney
Roger
Rupert
Russell
Wyatt

Care to share your list? Just looking for more ideas! ;;)

ETA: Why is naming kids so hard? And not only do you have to choose a first name, but then you have to find a suitable match for a middle name?! Oy...

Well we are using Bryan as it was DH's dad's name.  But not sure if it is going to be the first or middle name.

Our moms were throwing out names the other night.  I like traditional names as well but I am having trouble finding what flows well with Bryan (other than Luke ;) )

    Here are some:

    Greyson

    Jameson

    William

    Elliot

So far nothing has seemed right.  This little boy may not have a name until he is born!

  • @Irobi13 I love that you have a name for DS with special meaning. That's super sweet. :)

    Here are a few ideas:

    Bryan George
    Bryan Scott
    Bryan Paul
    Bryan Thomas

    Daniel Bryan
    Michael Bryan
    Andrew Bryan
    Walter Bryan

    Good luck! :)

I like Andrew Bryan / Bryan Andrew but my hairdresser and husband of my first boss is named Bryan McAndrew so that one is too close to that.

DH makes fun of me because I want a name that no one else has but that is not super unique!  I am really starting to think thT Bryan might be the first name because it flows better in the front.

I go by my middle name and have hated having to clarify my name all the time so I don't want to use the middle name over the first.

As a kid I never thought it would be this hard!  But then again I have dozens of girl names that I love <3

Cal Enzo is a really cool name! And I love the name Renee. That was DH's aunt's name, and we considered using it with Cora (Cora Renee) instead of using Frances, but we weren't sure which would sound better.

  • Yeah, I've been on the fence about Eamon because I don't actually know anyone with this name, but it's a solid Irish name that's growing on me!

I recently met an Eamon, but got the idea of naming a kid Eamon after we went to a restaurant in Alexandria called "Eamon's" ...it was delicious (fish'n'chips) and fun, and I was like; "I love that name!"

If ours is a boy we're going with Leo Alexander.

Some others I like are Frank, Johnathan and Stanley.
  • I love the name George! I babysat 10 years ago for a Matthew George and he was so stinkin' cute so it has a great connotation to me. :)

  • I love Elliott. Our other boy options were Charlie, Henry, and James.

We already know we are having a girl so we've stopped thinking of boys' names but here is a small list that we were considering:

    Andrew
    Kyle
    Bradley
    Colin
    Landon
    Joshua
    Eric
    Matthew
    Timothy (Timmy)

  • I'm team green and my boy list so far: Declan, Leland, Aaron, or Thomas. I'm not 100% committed to any yet (for various little reasons) so we'll see. The right name might still be out there:) I also love the name Simon but it's my brothers name so I think that would be a bit weird:)
  • We will most likely use Jared William if we have a boy which are family names. I also love the name Blake for a boy.

I posted about the SSA popular names list on another thread, but when searching for names for DD I liked scrolling through the top 500 names to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I figure if it's not in the top 500 it's probably not a name I would use.

  • Other names that I absolutely love but cannot/won't use for various reasons are:
    Noah
    Ethan
    Aidan
    Finn
    Oliver
    Max
    Dexter

Ethan is our top pick if it's a boy!

Our list for boys is one - Ethan Wayne. Wayne is the middle name for both DH and his dad, so though it wouldn't be a middle name I would pick, I kinda don't really have a choice on that one.

We are really struggling with a girls' name, but here is our small list:

    Madelyn (the front runner)
    Olivia
    Ava

DH doesn't love the last two, but we both feel pretty good about Madelyn.

  • We have a girls name.. but no boys name.. so it will probably be another boy and he will never have a name.. it was bad enough naming our first two (colin & brock) :) good luck on the name hunt!

If it's a boy, I think it will be Marshall Edward or Marshall Oliver

    other boy names we like:
    Callum
    Nathaniel
    Finn

We are both very picky about names so the list we agree on is very short :)
  • I knew someone named Emmett and I thought that was a cool classic name.
  • For boys names our list includes

    - Jack
    - Everett
    - Henry

Middle name will be Stanley, after my father

@elsie2014 - I love Madelyn! Other names on our short list for girls are

    - Evelyn
    - Eleanor
    - Olivia
    - Ava

Middle name for a girl will be Scarlett, which is a family name

  • @amcclindon‌ Would your DH like Flynn? Kind of incorporates the L and the Y from Finley but sounds more like Finn. :P

Renee is a family name on my mother's side. My great-grandma, grandma, mother, and sister all have it as their MN. My sister had decided not to have kids, so I'd like the tradition to continue into the next generation.

We are going with Ellie for a first name and Grace for MN. Some other girls names were:
     Grace
    Isabel or Isabella
    Mya
    Annabelle
    Chloe
    Kayleigh
     Mia
    Avery

If we had a boy we were going to name him Parker for a first name and Daniel for a mn.

    Edit: format
  • @BobKat22‌ so glad to see Willa on someone else's list! I've never known anyone with the name, but absolutely adore it :)

DH and I were sitting down one night last week. I told him I wanted to start thinking about names. I came up with Alvin (DH dad is named that) James (my dad is Jimmie and DH brought up that both his and my only brother middle names are James. ) So we are set. Since we found out last Friday that it was a boy with about 75% right. We have our A/S on June 27th. So back to names. We will call him AJ for short. I love it and have already got ideas for his nursery.

    Carson Michael
    Jayden Michael

    Girl:
    Olivia Kay
    Blair Kay

We are having a harder time with girls names than anything!

Christian Homeschooling Mama to 9 kids and Grandma to 1 (so far!) YES we would love to have more!
    Baby #9- It's a GIRL!!  Born Oct 1st 2014!!

Forever missing my 7 m/c babies now safe in the arms of Jesus!

  • Maxwell Robert for a boy and Madison Rose for a girl. Matching initials were definitely not planned, we just loved those names. Also love Emma but my cousin already used it.

My H is Brian Patrick. Sounds nice! OP, if we had a third boy, we liked Jackson (kinda popular now), Sebastian, Tyler, and my DS1 middle name is Charles for my dad. I love that name and think it helps every first name sound amazing and gives a little strength to it. gL! Maybe consider a family name?

  • We've 100% picked a girls name but we're having a really hard time with boy names. If it's a boy it's probably going to be one of those things that he doesn't even have a name until he gets here. So far we have

    Rowan
    Dominic
    Damon
    and we've tossed around Asher

But I haven't seen one that I'm absolutely in love with and DH seems to think Rowan sounds like a girl. Lol- not sure why he thinks that...
