NBR: My dad needs emergency eye surgery (and that's not all)

My dad has had eye problems for a few years, and a couple of months ago, he had a quick surgery to repair one of his retinas. Well this morning, his retina completely detached and he needs emergency surgery as soon as possible. If you don't get the surgery between 24 and 72 hours, you can suffer permanent effects. He has surgery scheduled for tomorrow at 6am.

But there's more! Not only am I just sick with worry over my dad, but tomorrow is my wedding day. The ceremony isn't until 6pm, and my dad should be fine (and flying high from painkillers) by then, but I am just really kind of devastated right now. I'm not at all upset that "my day" will be ruined, because I could not care less as long as my dad is okay. He says he'll walk me down the aisle no matter what, but I don't want him to strain himself.

I am just feeling more stressed out than I have this entire pregnancy, and I'm super worried. We still have to make our dinner music playlist and get our processional/recessional music on CD before tomorrow, and I am just sort of a crying mess. My SO is unreachable for the moment because he's out at dinner, and my best friend is in Vegas and I can't get ahold of him. I just needed to vent a little. If you're into that sort of thing, please keep my dad in your thoughts/prayers.

I'm sorry you are feeling so stressed. I hope all goes well with your dad. Just take a deep breath and take it one task at a time. I hope your SO gets home soon to help with some of the tasks. It will all get done one way or another and it will be great! I wish you a beautiful wedding day tomorrow! Congrats!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad the surgery schedule will still allow him to be at the wedding. Good luck tomorrow and congratulations!!! I hope this means that you're getting the most stressful part of the day out of the way now and everything else will be smooth from here on.

First off weddings make people super stressed and emotional. Then adding the additional stress of worry about your dad and being pregnant has to be so difficult.

I hope you dad had a successful surgery and that at the end of today you will be married.

It may not be great now but it will definitely be memorable after some time.

Just breathe and enjoy today the best you can. Fx for you and congrats!

Once the day has passed, it will be a funny memory to look back on, I promise. A week before my wedding, my dad called saying my mom was in the ER with stomach pain. This woman has beat cancer three times, and I automatically thought one of them came back. She was admitted and told she had to have her gallbladder removed a couple days later. We were in limbo, not knowing if she'd be at my wedding or not until surgery was done. If they could use scopes, she'd be ok, if they had to make incisions due to her uterine cancer scars, she wouldn't make it to my big day. We got good news, and she was a trooper. Now we joke about how she tried to ruin my wedding.
