I have hyperlactation. I did with DD too, and ended up EPing with her. It's even worse now with DS, and I've turned to EPing again because it is too ridiculously time consuming trying to pump before a feed and then feed, whilst also having a 2 year old. EPing worked out fine last time, I had too much milk, but it was manageable and I was able to donate 1,200 oz to another mom, and unfortunately tossed another 1,000 or so. I EPed 16 1/2 months with DD, was down to one pump a day and was then able to just stop with no issues.
Anyway, I need some tips on reducing this massive oversupply, fast. I am going crazy. I am getting 50-60 oz a day currently (and DS only eats about 15oz a day at 2 weeks old) and already have a few hundred oz in the freezer. I have been trying to space out my pumps like I did with DD, but can only go around 4-6 hours between before I can't take it anymore, and then of course I just take a shit ton of milk off, and back to square one.
I don't know what to do because I need the milk to feed DS, but if I don't pump until empty, then he gets green frothy foremilk poops and gas pain. Today I tried pumping off in the morning, and then just comfort pumping the rest of the day, but I still took away the same damn number of ounces.
I bought some sage, and have been taking that. Also eating strong mints, took some benadryl (though I hear sudafed is more effective), bought some cabbage today that I'm going to try tonight.... Any other ideas? I am thinking of asking my OB for the combo pill to try and kill my supply a bit. I can't find very much online about this because it seems like everyone else is fighting to increase their supply, of which, I must say I am insanely jealous. I would so much rather have to supplement and fight for supply than deal with the constant pain, engorgement and leaking.
