Happy Friday ladies! This is our Healthy Living Accountability thread. How did everyone’s week go? Are you meeting your goals? Frustrated? Let’s hear it! Forgive me if I miss anyone below – please don’t be offended but just jump right on in.
For the lurking ladies who didn’t get a chance to reply on Monday, feel free to join us here right now!
Happy Friday all! Well I made it to the gym twice this week which is twice more than I did last week and once more than I did in the month of April. Slowly but surely.
Eating wise - I'm pretty proud of myself - I didn't count calories because it was too much pressure with my very stressful week but I had salads every day for lunch and my dinners were small.
Now I just need to get through the weekend. BTW - sorry if the "motivation" was a little too harsh - but I needed it (so you all get to suffer LOL).
I'll be back at some point after I put out a ton of fires.
Good morning @peggels24 good job on the workouts and eating!
I've worked out twice so far, hoping #3 is today. Eating has been awful. I think the progesterone won this time. I'll have to get back in track there. We booked a trip to Vegas in 10 days so that's motivation!

Morning, again @peggels24! Small steps made consistently make big changes! I love your motivation! Sometimes a good kick in the rear is what we need to stay motivated!!!
I've worked out 4 days this week - 2 strength days, 1 2.5 mile run, and yesterday I did a 20 minute HIIT. Today is strength again, then going for a long, easy run on Saturday, hopefully before it gets too hot! (which, around here, gives me until about 7 am... lol) I weighed myself on Sunday, and I was at 142. On Tuesday I was at 141.5 and this morning I was at 140.5! Down 1.5 lbs in a week!!! WOOHOOO!!! I'm logging everything - even the bad stuff - into MFP, and I think it's helping. I've been eating smaller meals and cutting out as many sweets as I can. I know I need to be getting more veggies in, so I'll be working on that this week.
Here's some encouragement for all you lovely ladies:

Good morning! I am proud of myself. I did pretty well this week. I managed to go running and I even logged stuff in MFP! I feel like dancing, I am so proud! Of course, I have been so stressed that I have forgotten to eat lunch the last two days, so that needs to get remedied. ((Hugs)) to all and I love the motivation, @peggels24!
I got in two small runs on the treadmill and one on the elliptical. I kept it light though because my Color Run is TOMORROW! Oh my gosh you guys, I can't believe it's here already. I'm nervous but so excited!!!

Hi friends. I got my workouts in and ate well this week. I even took the stairs all week... I've climbed something like 180 flights this week alone. Ouch. Today is my personal training session and my trainer has already warned me I'll be sore. CD1 started wednesday and I managed to continue to avoid chocolate, etc... even in getting the news yesterday (via FB) that a friend is KU with her 3rd... I still avoided it. yay!
This morning I got CD3 bloodwork... they took 3 vials. Good times. hopefully it will provide some answers.
The scale is pretty stuck, but my body fat has gone down some so that's good. In other news, I'm sweating something terrible from walking up the stairs to my office this morning. UGH!

I've been staying on track eating-wise for the most part so I'm happy about that. Messed up a little last night by not making dinner at home (lousy commute = tired MrsKush) so we ordered out.
I've been keeping up with the walking this week and am thinking that I'm going to be ready to start running again soon, hopefully this weekend! I've also decided that I really need to start weight lifting again, so flabby.
The scale hasn't budged at all this week, but I'll take no loss over a gain, especially since I joined @MoreThanSparrows08's diet bet!
@MrsG80inTN You're an awesome inspiration! ((hugs)) for the PG announcement. It's always hard... As far as the scale goes, just remember that 1 square inch of muscle weighs more than 1 square inch of fat, so while you're building muscle and losing fat, it's normal for the scale not to move much. I remember after 2 weeks of my first 90 day challenge, the scale went up 3 pounds, but my clothes fit better, and DH and I could see a difference in my body shape. Are you keeping track of any body measurements - waist, hips, arms, legs, etc.? It helps me to check these every two weeks or so because the scale doesn't always move for me, and it helps to be able to see that what I'm doing is making a difference somewhere! I think you're doing a great job, so keep it up!

@peggels24 Thanks for the accountability check-in and the weekend motivation, not harsh, absolutely perfect! I'm a sucker for the weekends and need to be more mindful of that.
@Km380 I love using vacations as motivation! Have a great time in Vegas! BTW, does the 380 in your screen name represent March '80? If so, I'm also a March '80 girl!
@MoreThanSparrows08 WOW is all I can say, you're doing great and really making me nervous about our Diet Bet! I'll message you about the Bikini Body stuff.
@megrae12 Your comment about feeling like dancing put the song "I'm So Excited" in my head...great, thanks.
I am buying a knee brace today and running with my DH to try the second C25K workout. If thisdoesn't go well, I'll have to think of a different workout. Now that we have a small margin of money to spare, I might look into a yoga class instead. We'll see!
I've switched over to eating quinoa salads for lunch, and it makes a huuuuge difference! The salad is delicious and keeps me filled for hours. Win!
@morethansparrows08 - yes, I'm definitely taking measurements so that is helpful for sure. and I figure some of the scale at the moment is due to AF... maybe once she leaves my body will go back to losing weight... for like a week, until it gears up to O and then after O it will resume losing again... Ah, such a vicious cycle :-)

@MrsKush1014 yes it is for March 80. Yay March '80 girls! Don't beat yourself up over 1 night of eating, sounds like you've been great otherwise! Definitely try to work weights in, it can make a huge difference. Low weight and lots of reps is the way to go!
@peledreamsofrain I hope a knee brace helps. What about cycling? I tried quinoa once and just cannot get on board with it. It tasted like nothing
@MrsG80inTN go you on all those stairs! My legs are on fire just thinking about that. Sometimes the scale needs to be ignored and the way your pants fit are a better indication. Keep up the amazing work!

Hi ladies! I did well with my diet. Tried 2 new recipes and liked them yay! My numbers are back to where they were last week before the dreaded day of the hamburger... lol I wish I could eat beef without gaining 2 pounds every time... lol I love beef! I stuck to my 2L of water, and rode my bike every day (haven't done today yet) So I feel like I'm doing good. yay!
Good job everyone we can do this.
In the =( side of things my UC symptoms have gotten worse and the steriod is no longer working.. calling the doc... again.. today.

@km380 Oh have fun in Vegas – totally jealous! Get that third workout in today and you will
feel great!
@buttercup509 Way to go on exercising at home (and making
the gym on Monday)! What sort of
exercises do you do at home? Congrats on
the weight loss!
@morethansparrows08 Hello encouragement J Nice job on the weight loss! Way to rock those workouts!
@megrae12 Yay for a good week and for being proud of
yourself! I really think that is the
most important part of living healthy – the pride you feel in yourself.
@quigleycat1 Good luck at the Color Run – remember to have
fun!
@mrsg80intn My legs spontaneously started to hurt when I
read 180 flights of stairs. You are
awesome! I hope that the bloodwork gives
you some answers!
@mrskush1014 Where do you order from when you order
out? (I’m trying to figure out what I’m
going to order for dinner LOL well now that I think about it – for breakfast,
lunch and dinner as I haven’t eaten yet today).
No gain is definitely a victory.
Personally I’m not talking to my scale so I can’t step on it J
@peledreamsofrain I hope the knee brace works – if not there
are so many other exercises to do. I can’t
run at all – I get major shin splints no matter how much I stretch and
warm-up. That is why I stick to the
elliptical but I can also just walk.
@grailseeker14 Nice job at the gym! I’m totally impressed that you avoided the
chips and cookies.
@meganwelch yum…beef.
Great job this week! Did you get
to talk to the doctor?
@holdingouthope You are rocking the gym! I’m trying to avoid alcohol this weekend but
don’t know if I will be as good as you – instead of one drink, I’ll probably
just go out one night. LOL
@peggels24 I used to get shin splints all the time and the trainer gave me a tip in addition to stretching - run only on the treadmill and put the incline on 1. It doesn't feel like you're going uphill and it somehow helps. Definitely don't try changing surfaces that makes it a lot worse. (still have yet to workout today )

@peggels24 we have a couple of local pizza places that we usually order from or go and pick up something like Noodles n' company or Chipotle. Very healthy options, right?
Also, I used to get shin splints too. Shoes make a huge difference! I notice now that when my shoes need to be replaced I start to get shin splints. It's also a sign that you're trying to go too far too soon, slowly increase your distance. And ice! Ice them often if you're getting shin splints.
When I started running, I got terrible shin splints, too! I tried all sorts of stretches and hot/cold compresses, different shoes, inserts, etc. But what did it for me was KT Tape. It gave my shins support and a chance to rest while I ran. When they went away, it was HEAVEN to run!

As for this week...eh, I'm been a week. I made it to the gym on Wednesday and Thursday and will be spending the week walking my pup including going to the gym all week. I would rather work out in the mornings and if it is nice perhaps I will start my C25K program. Okay, now that I said that, I WILL BE starting my C25K program on Monday. No excuses. It's happening!!!!

@MrsG80inTN, good job on the stairs. Can you keep doing that when it gets really hot or would you get too sweaty? Does anyone watch The Mindy Show? Your stair-climbing reminded me of this week's episode although you are in much better shape than Mindy! I hope your bloodwork gives you some answers.

@peggels24 Yeah they finally called me back 2 hours ago. (apparently the doc ordered this stuff done WEDNESDAY but no one bothered to call me and tell me... UGH) they upped the steroids to 30 mg (3 pills a day instead of one) for a week, then 20g a day for a week, then back to 10. They also ordered some labs done so I had to go get blood drawn. So here we go we will see how this goes...
@megdowntheshore Thanks. Here's hoping the steriods make me feel better.

@MrsKush1014 It's hard to cook every night! Sometimes I'm just too tired. Don't feel too bad about it. Take out happens! I highly recommend lifting weights. I seem to results faster when I incorporate strength training into my workouts.
@peledreamsofrain I hope the knee brace helps you! Do you have a recipe for the quinoa salad? I've been eating salad for lunch, but I get hungry again too quickly.
@GrailSeeker14 Great job on the workouts! When I work out that much, I'm hungry all the time. I need to find some healthy snacks that keep me full longer. What are you snacking on?

@Megdowntheshore Great job on the workouts and eating small portions at the luncheon! I'm so glad you lifted this week!
Hello ladies! Sorry I missed the last few weeks but we were away in Seattle and I didn't have much computer access. But I am back now and ready to jump back on the healthy wagon.
I did awesome with walking while visiting my sister, she walks everywhere! And Seattle is full of hills so it was a better workout than I had had in a while. Since returning on Tuesday night, I've already gone for 2 walks of my own, so I'm feeling good in the exercise department.
As for water and eating well, not as much. I didn't drink enough while on vacation but have been trying to remedy that since returning home. As for food, my sister eats a lot of chocolate and that wore off on me. It doesn't help that she sent me home with 4 chocolate bars that I've been happily eating since my return. I'm trying to make healthy snack choices though, in between the chocolate breaks.
I'm hoping to continue with the walking and drinking more water and then slowly cut back on the sugar again. I've missed you all and am happy to be back.

@KM380, Thanks! Quinoa is kind of like rice, eating it by itself is bland and kinda gross. There are a lot of really kick ass recipes out there that cater to all tastes. You can even use it to substitute for breadcrumbs in your burgers. Much healthier!
@Peggles24, Sorry about the shin splints . Yeah I already walk quite a bit (at minimum 2 and a half miles a day). It's probably why I don't weigh 400 lbs :P.
I play around with the ingredients quite a bit to fit my own tastes. The recipes are really flexible and you can add and substitute to your heart's content.
@jenn0021 Welcome back! Did you enjoy Seattle? I've always wanted to visit Seattle. Congrats on getting that exercise in. And I LOL'd at "in between the chocolate breaks" - I'm going to have to use that.
@peggels24 - Seattle was beautiful and we were lucky to be there for a beautiful week. It was 85 on one of the days! It's a pretty cool city with lots to do and see. I can definitely see the appeal of living there, although I do like my 4 seasons I get.

Eating was pretty good. I paid more attention because I knew I wasn't going to get my workouts in.

@peggels24 – yay for making it to the gym twice and eating well. You can make it through the weekend. I’m sure of it!
@km380 – sorry the progesterone has been winning this month, but good job on the workouts.
@buttercup509 – Sorry you only got to the gym Monday, but you made it once so that’s great. The weight loss is great!!!!
@morethansparrows08 – way to go on the weight loss lady. Keep it up.
@megrae12 – I’ve been noticing your awesome workouts on MFP. Keep going love. Don’t let the stress get to you too much if you can… eating is important for weight loss…
@quigleycat1 – good luck on the color run tomorrow!!!!!!
Win!
PgAL welcome

@km380 Oh have fun in Vegas – totally jealous! Get that third workout in today and you will feel great!
@buttercup509 Way to go on exercising at home (and making the gym on Monday)! What sort of exercises do you do at home? Congrats on the weight loss!
@morethansparrows08 Hello encouragement J Nice job on the weight loss! Way to rock those workouts!
@megrae12 Yay for a good week and for being proud of yourself! I really think that is the most important part of living healthy – the pride you feel in yourself.
@quigleycat1 Good luck at the Color Run – remember to have fun!
@mrsg80intn My legs spontaneously started to hurt when I read 180 flights of stairs. You are awesome! I hope that the bloodwork gives you some answers!
@mrskush1014 Where do you order from when you order out? (I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to order for dinner LOL well now that I think about it – for breakfast, lunch and dinner as I haven’t eaten yet today). No gain is definitely a victory. Personally I’m not talking to my scale so I can’t step on it J
@peledreamsofrain I hope the knee brace works – if not there are so many other exercises to do. I can’t run at all – I get major shin splints no matter how much I stretch and warm-up. That is why I stick to the elliptical but I can also just walk.
@grailseeker14 Nice job at the gym! I’m totally impressed that you avoided the chips and cookies.
@meganwelch yum…beef. Great job this week! Did you get to talk to the doctor?
@holdingouthope You are rocking the gym! I’m trying to avoid alcohol this weekend but don’t know if I will be as good as you – instead of one drink, I’ll probably just go out one night. LOL
