Induced Lactation Check-in May 8

Hey all.
I almost forgot to post this today! I'm doing a "revise-a-thon" where I'm doing three days of concentrated revisions on a dissertation chapter, so I'm mostly staying off the internet during the day. But I'm taking a lunch break, so I figured I'd post.

@AmandaG47-- is breastfeeding after inducing lactation; partner carried their twins

@Jalara48-- is on birth control as part of induced lactation protocol; pregnant with a gestational carrier

@Firstcomeslove2013-- plans to induce lactation; partner is pregnant

@Healz413-- plans to induce lactation; partner is pregnant with twins

@Ticktock0903 -- plans to carry; partner may induce lactation

@Kristi&p-- plans to induce lactation; partner will carry

@Hey_its_jenn -- plans to induce lactation; is adopting

How have things been going over the last two weeks? Any new updates?

Anyone lurking but wanna join?

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

FET #1 December 2014

Re: Induced Lactation Check-in May 8

  • I got the go ahead from my regular doctor to start the ortho 35 and the domeridone that the breast feeding clinic prescribed. I just want to wait for my cycle to start (should be in the next week-- I hope) so that I minimize the chances of breakthrough bleeding.

I'm excited to be getting started with the meds soon.

    QOTW/GTKY:
1.) I'm 6'1 and our sperm donor is 6'4. It will be interesting to see if our babies get that height and how early.
2.) I was a vegetarian for 6-7 years and a vegan for about 1.5 years of that. I'm one of those people for whom bacon was the start of the slide back into meat eating.
3.) I'm doing my PhD in women's studies, super queer, and am one of the first to critique stereotypical gender roles, but I have a soft spot for romantic comedies and pseudo romance novels (Janet Evanovich and Carla Neggers).

  • Sorry I'm late!

@jalara48‌ and @firstcomeslove2013‌ glad to hear both your appts/meetings went well!

@healz413‌ I'm excited for you to start... I always bump mobile, mind reminding me how far along you two are?

As for me, things are still going great. I seem to be mostly keeping up with my share. sometimes though I lag behind them a little before catching up an I'm considering starting herbs again to give me a boost (i weaned off of them about a month after the girls were born because it was going well). I love that nursing is becoming more and more easy now that the girls aren't tiny and it helps me connect to them after a long work day.

    QOTD:
1: I'm moving back to the NW at the end of the month... Happy and a little sad about that.
    2: I am a total science/math nerd.
3: I love to dance although I am totally out of shape and haven't danced in about two years. (I gained weight and didn't stay in shape through J's pregnancy in solidarity
My name is A, I am wife to J.  After 7 months of ttc and one MC, we are expecting two baby girls in 2014!

  • @AmandaG47‌ we are 15w2d.
(And I know what you mean about the solidarity weight gain)

  • No  really updates with me here just still moving along with Ashley trying to get pregnant before meeting the the LC. I have chatted with the LC via email and she seems really great and supportive.

QOTW/GTKY: Tell us 3 things about yourself that we may not know.
    1. I love to crochet, I make hats all winter long for different characters for kids. And recently started to make hats to donate to cancer patients.

    3. Huge animal lover and going to adopt a dog this evening. He was abused pretty badly but his personality is amazing he is such a sweet little boy and cant wait to take him home.

  • I'm new to this, but I've been interested in trying the induced lactation. Does anyone have any websites our resources that I can get?
  • Hey @trisholiosboi, sorry for the late response. This website outlines the very basics:
    https://www.breastfeedingwithoutbirthing.com/the-basics-of-inducing-lactation.html

I'm doing the Newman-Goldforb Protocol. Most on this check-in are doing that or a variation of it.

There is a lot more information about that protocol here: https://www.asklenore.info/breastfeeding/induced_lactation/gn_protocols.shtml. This website is by one of the co-authors of the protocol.
