So I just got back from the doctors, I'm 39w2d and absolutely making no progressing. The baby is still really high up there, my cervix is still extremely hard and I'm not dilating. I'm having contractions but they aren't doing anything. So my doctor was talking to me about my plan, I have an ultrasound scheduled for Thurdsay to determine how big the baby is and how much fluid I have. And then from there we'll most likely pick a date for the CS. She said she doesn't want to induce me because she honestly thinks it's really not going to help much. And why put my body and baby through all that, when it's not going to amount anything.
So I'll be reading up on what to expect during a c-section and what recovery is like. I'm a little bummed about this, but mainly because I now have to request more time off of work which means I without a paycheck that much longer.

Of course you must do what is best for yourself and baby and not take unnecessary risks, but please educate yourself too! This is a great website to search for info.

Ok, I'll step off my soapbox now!
I don't mind having a CS if I need one, I'm just upset that I would have to take additional time off of work for healing, and that's more time without a paycheck. And I will be stressing about finances. But I'm a firm believer in things have their way of working themselves out. So again we'll wait and see what the plan is for next week.
I'm not too worried about things, baby will make it's way out somehow one of these days. As much as I would prefer a vaginal birth being a FTM I want to experience what it's all about, but if that's not the way it's going to happen I won't be too disappointed.
This sounds exactly like the news I got this past Tuesday from my OB. They will not let me go further than 8 days past my EDD.
Only difference is I am fighting to be induced before they schedule me for a CS. I don't want to be induced, but I hate the idea of a CS even more. I will be getting Cervadil next Friday (at 6 days past my EDD) in hopes to avoid a CS. OB made it pretty clear that he thinks I will need a CS despite the attempted induction and included his thoughts on my prenatal paperwork to "not hesitate".
Good luck with reading up. As a precaution, I will be cramming as well!
I have one more appt next week. Here is to hoping my body does what it needs to do before next Friday!
BFP #1 - 3/23/13 // EDD - 11/27/13 // M/MC - 5/3/13 // D&C - 5/4/13
BFP #2 - 8/26/13 // EDD - 5/10/14 // Born 5/18/14
While yes, it is your body and you have every right to say nope and go against their advice, they also have the right to drop you as a patient. I've had people tell me the same about my dr not letting me go past 39 weeks before scheduling a RCS (which is scheduled but still hoping for a VBAC) but really my options are limited. The only other practice in town is even more anti-VBAC and the level of stupid that comes out of there kills me. I love my dr and even though we don't necessarily agree on the length of time I should be allowed before doing a RCS, I still feel he is the better option for me and the pros outweigh the cons. It's not always so simple as telling the dr that you don't want to do it their way.

I get there's a lot at play, especially with VBACs. But a lot of times compromise can be reached. And many times just saying no I don't consent is enough. While it does happens that a provider will drop you it's not common. At that point it's a matter of what are your choices if any. The hospital I'm at will deliver breech but you have to say "that is what I'm doing & no I will not do a c/s." And be firm & confident. But in this particular scenario I'd really push the ob to find out why he's not following ACOG's guidelines. It just makes me wonder what other guidelines they may be choosing to not follow or be aware of.
I'd totally be printing all bazillion pages of this:
https://www.acog.org/Resources_And_Publications/Obstetric_Care_Consensus_Series/Safe_Prevention_of_the_Primary_Cesarean_Delivery
and bringing it with me to my OB's office if I were you.
Keep in mind that a c/s will impact your future births and even how many children you're able to have.
