Tantrums during diaper changes!

So my 9 month old is now throwing tantrums while hes being changed. All of the sudden he no longer is interested in the toys I let him hold while changing him, he's throwing fits screaming and trying to flip himself over! Is anyone else's lo's doing this and what can I do to make it better? I'm at my wits end, I am afraid he's going to flip himself off of changing table so we are doing it on the floor now! Im sure this is a phase just wondering if there is anyone who knows any tricks to help!

I've used my changing table belt many times. He's def protesting it. If I let him play w a diaper or something that's not a "toy" or something that's on the changing table it's a little better. I'm sure it will only get worse.

Ev's doing it, too. I assume it's related to teething- she flips out any time she's laid down flat.

Also check for diaper rashes. A friend of mines little girl hated diaper changes and would scream and try to get away and fight. She was sensitive to the dipes and wipes that gave her a rash. They changed brands and it cleared and she has no problem with changes

It's like wresting an alligator! I put him on the floor between my legs and give him something that does not look like a toy. Sometimes giving him a diaper to play with does the trick. He usually screams at me the whole time. Baby can't be bothered with diaper changes- he has places to go!

Yes! We've had to start changing her on the floor so she can't fall off the changing table. I remember it being a phase when DD1.

S has started flipping out when laying dibs just in the last 2 days. I sit her up & she's happy as can be. I don't feel like she's teething though. It's stressing me out! Lol

he was fighting diaper changes for a while. Nowadays he fights the motn diaper change because I change him first before feeding him. soothing voice and letting him hold the lotion bottle helps.

Floor is my friend and I give her something that isn't a toy to distract her. Diaper, lotion, saline bottle, keys. Whatever is near me that she reaches for but is "safe", she gets during the diaper change. Once I sit her up, she drops what she was playing with and is on to the next thing.

This exactly! I think he just doesn't want to lay still long enough to get his diaper changed , he's always on the go! He's even fallen asleep while playing in his pack n play. He literally just falls over and goes to sleep right where he sits!

Amen for the tip about the saline bottle! I handed it to him during last diaper change and it was like a miracle , why is it that non toys are so amazing to them!
