This might seem like a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyways. We finally had our first hot day of the year yesterday here in PA. Today is supposed to be just as warm and last night we had a hell of a time getting DS to go to sleep. He never fights me at bedtime. Naps, yes. Bedtime, never. It was 80 degrees in his room and I think he was just way too warm. We had him stripped down to his diaper and had his windows open but after a few minutes, he'd wake up and start crying. So I guess my question is: do I go after work and buy a small air conditioner for his window? A portable one? Just a window fan? This probably seems common sense but we never had air conditioners when I grew up. My parents house is in the woods and surrounded by trees. There was no need for them. The house stayed cool. Now that DH and I live in town and get a lot more direct sunlight, we need them. We have one in our bedroom and one on the main floor. Obviously if we got one for him we wouldn't put it on high, but this is kind of all new to me as stupid as that is. Any advice/input would be great. Thanks! Sorry to start Friday off with a dumb question! ![]()
Re: Air Conditioner??
Haha! Our house is 100+ years old. No central air here. Redneck air conditioning it is! What's really redneck... the people who we bought our house from actually removed a window and put a huge air conditioner in. To cover the other part of the "window"... plywood. And then spray foamed around it. So classy! We have no idea how to go about fixing it (odd shaped "window" and can't find a replacement) and it does keep the whole main floor cool. We just cleaned it up, insulated, and put the blind down to hit the top of the ac unit. Thank goodness it's the side of the house that faces our neighbor and no one walks there! You'd never know by looking at it inside the house, but it's so embarrassing.
His room isn't that big, so I think a ceiling fan might look ridiculous and be too much. But that's something to run by DH! Thank you!
And thanks everyone else for their input! I appreciate it!
