Lovenox During Pregnancy

I have been told from my OB and vascular surgeon that I will need to be on Lovenox if I decide to have another baby. My question is have any of you mothers seen any effects on your babies during pregnancy or after delivery? I know that it is said to be safe but I am having a really hard time believing that a drug that works so hard on my blood would not do the same to a baby.

  • I also have a clotting issue and I'm using lovenox. Besides it leaving your belly bruised I haven't had any problems.

I am curious what type of clotting disorder you have? @AnotherDreamer‌

  • Thanks Ladies-
I know that being on Lovenox is necessary if I decide to have another baby.  just wanted to reach out there and see if anyone had any bad experience with it as far as their children were concerned.  I know the injections are painful... they also leave their mark months after the bruising goes away.  - sometimes I have a hard time trusting drug companies.  There have to be thousands of mothers out there that have walked down this road!

  • I was on lovenox for my pregnancy due to a DVT and it saved mine and my baby's life. I haven't seen any negative side effects and my baby is a month old :)

This.  I loss our DS because I wasn't on a high enough dose of Lovenox, threw a blood clot into the placenta and it died, causing DS to pass away.  My DD was born at 29 weeks, during the c-sec my OB commented how bad my placenta looked, like something you would see at a garage sale.  There were clots in my placenta and most of it had already died.  My DD is now an active, healthy 3 1/2 y/o with no side effects from the Lovenox and definitely wouldn't be here without it.  GL!
