Reaction to Electronic Cigarettes at the park

I usually move far away or leave if someone lights up a cigarette at the playground. For the first time, I recently saw someone using an electronic cigarette and didn't really know what I thought about it. They say there's little to no second hand, and there was no odor... What would your reaction be to someone using an electronic cigarette at the playground?

I personally think they're trashy, but I wouldn't say anything to someone smoking them around my kid, particularly outside where any vapor is quickly dispersed.

When DS first started using the e-cig and he would do it in the house it freaked me out. It's just the appearance that made it look like he was smoking in the house. Now he has been smoke-free for over a year, so I'm all for people using the e-cigs to try to quit smoking. I'd much rather smell the strawberry vapor than the nasty cigarette smell any day!

I definitely think it's crass, just like cigarette-smoking at a park, but I'm not one to confront a stranger, so I would probably just keep my distance.

I recently had an issue with this at the mall I was at. I took my DD to the play area in the mall and someone had one and lit it right in the play area with all the kids?! I was pretty irritated, they did not even care, we ended up leaving. Outdoors I think they should be fine but not in a specific kid area, like a playground.

My husband smokes an e-cig and I have no problem with it. I'd MUCH rather he smoke that, than have the tobacco and nicotine residue on his clothes (I asked him to smoke outside when he did smoke real cigs). Even the linked article states that the trial showed nicotine emissions of only 10% that of the real thing, and none of the other harmful compounds found in tobacco. And that's assuming you're smoking the full-nicotine vapor, instead of the lower-level vapor. The only thing I'm a stickler for is making sure the refill bottles are kept way out of our son's reach.

All that being said, I obviously don't have a problem with it. I have a problem with people idling their cars outside Target and letting those emission gather before I have a problem with my kiddo breathing a dispersed whiff of nicotine. Now if someone was blowing the vapor towards the kids and being a jerk about it, that would bother me.
