dull ache on lower right side?

I've been having this in my lower right abdomen area like right above my groin, asked NP about it a couple weeks ago and she pretty much just told me if it's not very painful to just let it be. Doesn't really bother me but I feel it when I get up after sitting a while or walking, It's pretty annoying. I wouldn't call it a cramp like a period cramp, but kind of like a runner's cramp ... Anyone else had this? Wondering if maybe it's a cyst but I have to go to another office to check for that, I really don't want to mess with it if it's nothing serious. TIA!

Re: dull ache on lower right side?

  • I think your fine, does it come and go it is it constant? If its constant id get it checked out if not, don't worry about it. You get all kinds of weird aches and pains when your pregnant. I also noticed more aches and pains after 30 too.
  • Loading the player...
  • not constant... kind of come and go but when it comes it's here for a while, on second thought maybe it's gas ... lol had to change prenatal vit's b/c my rx is on a manufacturing hold and maybe I don't do as well on these. I can have constipation probs depending on the vitamin I'm taking.

  • I wouldn't worry about it, I get a dull pain on my right side even when I'm not pregnant occasionally.
  • YES! That's where mine is too. but on my right side.

I'm thinking it round ligament or just growing pains.  I have them when I stand/move quickly.

I do have a cyst on one of my ovaries. I have a little bit of pain every once and a while, kinda dull, but only lasts a few minutes.

Doctor isn't worried about the fibroid yet. We are going to peek at it again at the 20 week u/s and make sure that it isn't in the way. Other than that we are letting it sit for now!

    Edit: I can't speel

You can see the cyst on the u/s machine?

  • Just wondering what the difference is! Or if it even matters ... if they go away/dissolve on their own (cysts)

@kstirton‌ I can't speak to fibroids, but to speak on ovarian cysts, most women get them at different points during their cycles and they resolve themselves. They're diagnosed through u/s. It's the ones that do not go away that cause issues. In extreme cases if they linger and after monitoring become large they may like to remove them to prevent rupture. I had a surgery to do so in high school.

Same here. I've had a few removed in the post. Mine were always diagnosed via ultrasound. At one point, I was having crazy cycles that were attributed to the cysts. Haven't had issues in several years and no mention of them being an issue with my pregnancy, so I haven't really worried.

Oops!  I have a fibroid.  (I said cyst at first) You can see the fibriod on the u/s. It was actually blocking them from getting a good picture of my ovary at the time. It didn't grow or change between the two ultrasounds I had (4 weeks apart).

A cyst can resolve on it's own or burst and be absorbed or have to be removed. A fibroid will most likely have to be surgically removed at some point if it starts to bother me, grow or something like that.

My mom had lots of fibroid's at one point. She had a bunch removed and they kept coming back. She ended up having a hysterectomy to stop them.  One inside her uterus was the size of a cantaloupe though!
