Sharp pain near sternum

For the past couple weeks I've had a pain on my right hand side near my sternum. At first I thought it was from the baby kicking my ribs and making them sore but the pain has gotten worse. Now its more like a million needles poking me. And my skin hurts without anything touching it. I have tried wearing a different bra and no bra but it doesn't help at all. I called my doc and according to him its normal. I guess I just need a second opinion because I don't see how this much pain is normal. Has anyone else experienced this? TIA!

yes I have it on the left side. If I even move, the pain is so sharp it can take my breath away. My baby is breech so I think the head puts just a huge strain on my ribs

I've been having the same issue. it's getting worse as the pregnancy progresses but I've noticed that i feel it most when i've been more active. try resting for a day and see if it gets better.

i was diagnosed with endometriosis and fibromyalgia about 2 years ago after a miscarriage. Pain and skin sensitivity is common with those things. i thought maybe the pain was related to those conditions since it feels similar to the pain i had before pregnancy. My doc didn't seem too concerned either since everyone's body has different aches and pains in pregnancy. she said if fever, diarhea, bleeding or extreme abdominal pain accompanies it, then i need to contact her.

hope this helps. please update me if you find that it means something else. i'm still concerned about it even though my doc doesn't seem to be. trying not to worry too much cuz everything else seems to be fine.

At my last appointment (2 weeks ago) the doc said the baby was head down so I hope he/she hasn't flipped around even tho I know its possible. I know I should just listen to him and not worry but it just seems odd to me. And Amy I have an appointment Monday so if I find out anything else I'll let you know!

I am 35 weeks and just started to feel the same pain in my sternum (right side) and have been very concerned. I don't have a Dr appt for 2 weeks and feel better knowing this doesn't seem too uncommon. My Dr is not phased by anything - He'll probably tell me its typical. If i learn more, i will repost.

I've had a constant pain in my upper right abdomen for about 2 1/2 months now. I had bloodwork done to rule out a major liver issue and they felt the area to make sure it wasn't an enlarged liver. I got a clean bill of health but they said the little guy is just pressing his feet into my liver causing my pain but it's not affecting my liver function so basically just deal with it. Have you discussed it with your Dr? Mine feels like a tingle/sunburn and is sore to the touch.

Last week I experienced intense shoulder pain on my right side. It started just in my shoulder and worked its way into my arm and neck and across to my other shoulder. One night it was so bad, I just lay whimpering in bed cause I couldn't move. I know the location of my pain is slightly different than yours, but my midwife wasn't the least bit concerned. She said I pulled a muscle and that in time it would heal. The pain lasted about a week, but is completely gone now!

I have the exact same thing. It is so painful, it sometimes leaves me gasping for air. I asked my doctor about it yesterday and he said it's normal and there's not much to do about it. He suggested leaning back when I sit but I got the impression I just have to suffer through it.
