Jaundice :(

Had my son on Monday 5/5 went home Tuesday. Pediatric appt this morning (Thursday) and due to his jaundice levels we are back in the hospital

hate seeing him like this I have cried a few times but know he's getting better.... His levels were 21 at lab this morning and 19 when we got admitted few hours later so I'm hoping it goes down quick and we can maybe go home tomorrow.... My husband will have to back home with my daughter tomorrow thankfully his aunt kept her today.

Just needed to talk about it made me feel a little better thanks

Awww poor baby. Are you breast feeding him? I heard that breast feeding helps get rid of the jaundice.

Sorry to hear, we ended up staying an extra day in the hospital for the same thing, Josie was under the lights ( looked like a little tanning bed too) for a full day/night only coming off for feedings by the next day her level was down to 9 amd we came home. I am sure your baby is getting the right treatment and you will soon be back home.

Sorry you had to take him back in. DD had a touch of jaundice when she got home, but the midwife just suggested keeping her close to a window and taking her for a couple of walks outside because it was mild. It seems to have corrected itself now. We're FFing so that might be why she developed it.

He looks so cute getting his tan on.

Good luck! Hope he feels better soon! DD2 had severe jaundice after she was born (because my milk never really came in and she lost so much weight, poor girl), she almost had to be readmitted too, it's so scary!

We had to do the same with DS. He wasn't pooping very much though so it took a while. Hopefully your little guy is home again soon!!

We had to return for two days for blood work. LO's last level was 15.2 so luckily we didn't have to return for lights. I am BF and he nurses like a champ. He was popping like 7-8 times a day so that was helping him move it out from his body. He's doing much better and at 1 week checkup doc said BF babies keep the yellowish tint sometimes from the jaundice a little but longer.

This morning his levels were at 16. They took blood again at 2 and now 3 hours later I haven't heard anything. They took the headlamp off which is nice. The doc this morning said he would have to stay another night. So sent my husband home to be with our daughter and looking forward to them bringing me dinner soon
