All of a sudden my lo is very shy. He cries when other kids come near him and comes to me for comfort.I take him to lots of play groups and go to the park with my one mom friend and her baby often. I do this since I'm here without family and want him to be around people other than me. He never did this before. He use to crawl right up to all the other kids and interact with them.

I know he is having a tough time with separation anxiety.

I just want to make sure i respond in the correct way when this happens. I usually console him but say look at that nice boy. Mommy thinks he is very nice. Etc. He usually just continues to cry. :(.

Anyone know of any books about this or dealing with the same?

    I have no advice but if it makes you feel any better my LO recently started doing this too. He has no fear of adults, bigger kids, or babies, but other kids his age intimidate him. Honestly I'm just hoping its a stage he's going through and plan to just continue to bring him around my friends kids until he decides to get over it. If he crawls to me I'll pick him up, but I keep trying to get him to interact with the other child. I don't think it is anything that will effect them for the rest of their lives, just a stage that will pass.
