Single Parents

oops...

This morning I woke up and turned on the news to hear that some celebrity (I don't remember who) had a baby boy that they named Jaxon (like Jackson). And I made a status that pretty much is summed up to be that that celebrity was a "fucking spoiled piece of shit that needs to learn how to fucking spell."  Well, apparently, my friend's wife didn't like that status.  She is pregnant and they, apparently, have also decided to name their child Jaxon.  And she did not hold back on how offended she was and now she knows how people are going to be about the spelling of their child's name.  She said she's a kindergarten teacher and knows how to spell and that Jaxon is better than Jackson because Jax is a cuter nickname than Jack.  Or something.  But what made the whole thing funny to me was that in her comments she misspelled a whole bunch of shit. And then made a couple more comments to correct the spelling of the things she misspelled.

I like her husband, she is kind of a cool chick, and yeah, she's preggo, so I know she's totally blowing this WAY out of proportion. I did delete the status and I messaged her an apology but I haven't heard back from her. Oh well. Really no sweat off my back.

But, seriously? Jaxon?  That just pisses me off.

Yeah, I feel ya on this one.  I sometimes think it's a huge contest about who can come up with the stupidest most misspelled name for their kid.

Even if you named your son Jackson you can still call him Jax.  I'm not choosing a name for my kid around what I want his/her nickname to be.  Lame.

  • Oh for the love of. Jax is a nick name for jackson. It originated from sons of anarchy. Jax is named jackson.

But i agree with @tig594 there is a giant pissing contest over whose kid has the most fuckered up spelling. A friend of mine is nameing her boy jaxon so she can call him jax. Same friend said if she had a daughter shed name her bentleigh.

And i hate this naming trend where we use k instead of c and insert random x's and y's into names.

  • Oh god. Bentleigh. FUCK that. I hate people!

  • Nope. Can't get it up to give a shit. I don't see any problem with Jaxon. It's really not that odd, IMO.

  • It looks so stupid to me and I didn't think twice about it when I posted it. People are going to get/give flack on any name. I just feel like dumbing down name spelling is not helping the next generation in life. People with fucked up spelled names are 1/3 less likely to get a good job in life. People don't think that far ahead.

LMAO. I'm already screwed bc people spell out E's name EmmaLynn. It doesn't bother me that much but someone bought her an embroidered lovey with it like that. Oy.

I think its hilarious when people do the HEAVEN SPELLED BACKWARDS thing. Nevaeh. Um like that hasn't been done before.

I nannied for an Indian family with a boy named Bodhi (Bow-dee). She said she went to the peds and they announced his name as BOD-HI...just as it is spelled, like Body, Hi folks. I wanted to die laughing.

  • I think out of all my friends with kids the best girl name us Halo(shes such a sweet heart and it works on her) and Dante(his mom is working towards becoming a middle school teacher and loves to read his dad is a hipster) but i feel like im in the age group where all the boys are and "aiden" name or an equally popular name. And i know three Evelyns.

I know bentleys name is growing in popularity. But you know what i love his name and im aware its a love it or hate it name so...

People pronounce Aria's name Area all the time.  Like I'd name my kid Area.  I guess I should have spelled it Ahrea. Not.  She was going to be Mikaela but there are a lot of them around here these days.  She has an Avery, Kaitlyn and Sylvia in her day care class.  I like all those.  But someone else I know just named their daughter Adelaide.  I hate that name.  Makes me think of an old person who smells like moth balls.
  • We all know by now how Harley got her name. But I also like it because the name Harley is not a common name, so I don't have I worry about calling out to her and having several faces turn to look at me.

I got into a fight with my best friend over one of our mutual "friends" naming their first born son BOB. I mean like not Robert, Bob. I mean what 13 year old kid wants to be called BOB? I bitched to her about it and she flipped shits on me and we didn't talk for years. Meanwhile this chick who named her kid Bob was someone she didn't even like, but they ended up becoming good friends. Totally wack and I could go on and on.

Anyway, Emmalynn got her name bc MC and I agreed on it. He wasn't liking anything I was throwing out (when we were together). I thought he'd be involved so I tossed back and forth for 48 hours before naming her and decided on the name we agreed on. I don't regret it because obviously I like the name. My middle name is Lynn, so is my moms, so I wanted to honor that but didn't want her middle name to be Lynn. A lot of people think it's from Army Wives and I don't think it is, but it's a show MC and I used to watch religiously bc he was in the Army, thus I was an Army Wife for a little while. None the less, I don't name my kids after shows, so that wasn't it but maybe it was on our mind or something.

I nannied for a fam who named their daughter Addison after Grey's Anatomy. I don't watch it so I wouldn't know but I thought it was a cute name.

I've learned naming your children is a personal thing and everyone has an opinion.

I wouldn't rant about it on FB and Jaxon is not that bad IMO, but I also know if someone said they didn't like the name Caroline I wouldn't engage in a FB fight on the other end either.

Any opinion post on FB (or TB for that matter) will most likely enrage someone.

Yeah, I don't think it's worth bitching or netbattling over either way. lol
