January 2014 Moms

Vent vent VENT!

Sometimes I feel like we take 1 step forward & 3 steps back. This week LO has decided that her wake up for the day time is 4:30. I get her to bed around 8:00, she is up at 2 then up for good at 4:30... And that wouldn't be so terrible if she would maybe let me put her down long enough to take a shower or even brush my teeth. We were doing so great with sleep & just hanging out on her own but the last 2-3 weeks it's like she's a newborn all over again. I am beyond exhausted. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I read all these moms on here who seem to have it going on! Their babies are self soothing, taking bottles, STTN etc. DD refuses a bottle, will only fall asleep if I'm nursing her & demands to be in my arms all day long. I don't know what to do. Don't get me wrong... Cora is my bestest friend & I love her to pieces but momma needs a break!

And to top all this off... We own a couple of restaurants & are coming up on the busiest time of the year annnnnd our General Manager just walked out on us! So the hubs is pulling his hair out trying to figure out what to do.

  • I don't think you're the only one that feels this way! I've felt this way lately too. DD used to play really well on her own for a bit while I supervised her but got things done. Now she hates being on her playmat alone and wants to be held more.  She has also regressed in her sleep.  I think it's just another milestone they're going through. I always say every time I think I have her figured out, she changes again! Hang in there, things will get better! :)

  • Can you put her to bed earlier? Some LO do better with bedtime around 7. I would try that for a week.

I hear you on envying the STTN though. I just wanted one magical sleeping baby!

  • I follow her lead. We start bedtime as early as 6:30 but she usually won't fall asleep until 8ish. Fingers crossed this will pass soon.
  • It's 4:30 and he's up an smiling with no sleep in sight. I have no idea what the hell happened. He was sleeping 10hrs waking up once to nurse before. He also doesn't take a bottle and nurses on demand.

  • I feel the pain! And unfortunately it's been from the beginning, not just the past few weeks. On a GOOD night my boy 'only' wakes up 3 times between 8 and 5:30....I feel like a zombie an it's so hard to go out and get anything done during the day. I feel faint from the lack of sleep most days. Lucky for him I love him to bits and his smile gets me through!

I don't have any advice, but I can commiserate with you. I love DD to death, but some days it is pretty exhausting. She won't take a bottle either, and even though she sleeps well at night, she refuses to take naps, no matter what I try, and it can be hard to have a few minutes to myself to eat or pee or anything. I just keep thinking that it will get better with time and I continue to try and get her to take a bottle, and lay her down for naps, in hopes that it will eventually work. Hang in there, mama!

  • I'm not happy anyone is going through this but it does give me some comfort that I'm not alone here. The Hubs asked me yesterday if we officially have the most difficult baby in history. I feel bad venting about her. She's just a baby after all! But my goodness... Right when it gets easier it goes back to impossible!

At least we are in this together ladies! Good luck to everyone :)
  • If it makes you feel better, my DD is STILL colic and coming up on 16 weeks. She will only take a nap or sleep at night at the boob and still fusses every afternoon/night.
  • I definitely feel your pain..LO started sleeping through the night four weeks ago now all of a sudden hes up every few hours screaming and its super difficult to get him back to sleep. I just keep trying to tell my zombie self this to will pass!
