Parent-teacher conference already!

I officially have my first parent-teacher conference tomorrow morning with the main teacher for DD's room at daycare. Of course, being the incredibly anxious person that I am, I'm worried I'm going to get criticism or bad news or something. Stupid brain.

In a similar vein, DD was evaluated by Early Intervention today as a special thing that daycare does for all of the kids, and I'm worried it showed some sort of delay.

Sorry for the DD post. I guess I can turn this into a question - anyone else have a parent-teacher conference yet? If so, how did it go?

  • If it's at all comforting, I think it's awesome that your day care is so proactive about delays to routinely do screenings. Dd isn't in daycare but DS was and we did conferences and it was adorable.

I'm sure it'll be fine. I mean, I talk to the teachers everyday and everything is always very positive. They love DD. I'm sure if there were some secret major concern it would have come up some time in the last four months.

I think they've even put together some binder about her and how she's doing. It should be really interesting. Will deft report back.

  • Do they have meetings with all the parents? If so, I think thats so great! My FI is always the one picking her up and dropping her off (for now) so I never interact with them :(. We get a daily log of what she did during the day...not all that detailed, though.

I think if they had any concerns they'd bring it to your attention right away...Keep us posted!

Yep, with at least one parent for every child. I think it's twice a year.

  • In TN, day cares are required to offer parent teacher conferences twice a year as part of their quality rating system.

I did this when I worked in a daycare for NAEYC. It's really no big deal :). They just cover where your child id developementally. Most of it you will already know. They may have something cute that they did like with handprints or something :) GL!!
  • @psychdoc12‌ how adorable! Glad it went well :)
