So much poop!

I've been EP for the most part, nursing on and off but mostly pumping. My supply gradually increased as time went on, but I've been supplementing with formula since day 1, and giving LO whatever BM I can produce.

Well, LO is almost 5 weeks old and now about 2/3 of her intake is BM. As the amount of BM in her diet increases, so does her poop. She's having explosive ones that go up her back, 3-4x a day where previously she had a much smaller amount 1-2x a day.

Do breastfed babies poop more than formula fed?

    Oh yes and all of them are explosive. My LO usually requires a small bath after everyone....

    BM goes through babies' systems faster... there was a time where it felt like every time I fed DS, he would poop and there was A LOT of it.  It seems to have gotten better in terms of how often but like PP mentioned, his is almost always explosive.  I'm seriously considering buying stock in Oxiclean ;)

    this-- i was going to say, you might need to go up a size in diapers. even if your LO is not at the recommended weight for the next diaper, if they fit okay, the extra material in the back will help contain the poop. it might be worth a try- if they're too big, just save them until your LO is bigger.

    I EBF and I never change LO before I nurse because I can almost guarantee he will poop while nursing. 9 times out of 10 he let's a massive fart rip and I know I have to change his diaper.

    Thank goodness I cloth diaper...

    At 6 months DDs poop is still just liquid. We get the leaks mostly when it's time to go up a size, but also when it shoots out all at once quickly. It's weird some BF babies poop multiple times per day like mine, others go for days without.
