Rug or foam?

I think I am going to turn our office into a playroom for the boys and I'm starting to gather ideas. So what do you think? The office has hardwood floors, should I do a rug or foam squares?

Re: Rug or foam?

  • I voted rug. I have a big tumbling mat that I bought at costco that I have in my office turned playroom right now. I am planning on transitioning to a bigger rug when he gets a little older and I don't have to worry as much about him eating the threads and throwing up all over it. I bought the tumbling mat when he first started learning to sit, it has been awesome. It is so plush and I think it will also be great for when he wants to lie on the floor and watch movies, or practice some gymnastics/wrestling moves.

Rug with the padding carpet stores sell to go under it so that it doesn't scratch the hardwood
  • @weddinginthecove‌ OMG I have a tumbling mat!! I got it for Bradley's first birthday party!! That would be perfect!!

The tumbling mat is def a win in this house, it also saves Mama's ass and back when he is in there playing with him for hours on end :) Eta: he not she..... I definitely have a son lol

  • We got this for our bathroom and we love it. It's large, padded and easily wipe able.

  • My LO has become an expert at pulling up the tiles and using them to teeth on. I just have six set up in the kitchen and I feel like I put them back together at least 5 times a day. I would go for a rug or big one-piece play mat.

  •  We have all carpet in our apartment except for the kitchen and baths. Its great but a pain in the ass at the same time. I hate the spills, crumbs and nonsense that get shoved into it. I have to vacuum daily! Its annoying.

  • I have foam for Joseph and he'll rip them apart and I just feel like they get so dirty so quickly.... it feels like I'm constantly cleaning them.... so this coming paycheck I'm buying an area rug. So my vote goes towards a rug lol.

I'd lean more towards foam or tumbling mat... I feel like with two little boys (or girls, just little kids in general) there will likely be a fair share of spills and messes and a wipable surface would probably make it easier to maintain.
