A couple of my (college) students (female) found out we are expecting a baby today. I knew they had found out because I could hear them squealing all the way down the hall!
When they found out we were using a gestational surrogate, they thought it was so cool and wanted to know how it worked. Yes, we are biochemists! lol

We just told my almost 5 yr old daughter about the new baby yesterday. All day today she has been saying "I can't believe there is a baby in your tummy!!!" and she is mothering me - she told me I can't sleep on my stomach anymore bc it could hurt the baby! She is cracking me up!!
Today I was driving home with DS in the backseat. He began to fall asleep, which I always try to prevent because he won't take a good nap if he gets even a part of one in the car. So I woke him up and offered him bribed him with part of a chocolate chip cookie that I had just bought at Starbucks (I normally do not give him stuff like that). He opened his eyes, smiled, accepted the cookie, and then fell back to sleep with it still in his hand. A few minutes later, at a stop light, I woke him up again and his eyes popped open and he immediately put the piece of cookie in his mouth and then fell back to sleep. This made me laugh in the middle of a bad day.
1. PTO brought in lunch for the teachers today. 2. A kid sat in a trash can to be funny during a skit and got stuck. He was laughing so hard he couldn't get out. I love 12 year olds. 3. I took a nap in my hammock.
Pregnancy has completely taken my filter away. I found myself jovially explaining to my (male) co-worker (a good friend of both DH and mine) that I was so excited about not being as constipated as I was during first tri. The words, "I mean, I was only pooping every three days" actually came out of my mouth. Then I had a moment of clarity and realized that the whole thing was really awkward and funny and we luckily both started laughing.
I was buying a mother's day card for my mom today and suddenly got this hit of reality - I'm going to be a mom, too! And then I got all hormonal teary happy while reading all the sappy cards in the middle of the store.
One of my problem students coming to see me after school with a smile on his face to show me he passed the CRCT. I teach remedial math so this is a big deal for my students. They all normally fail.
I got a very nice email from a client today. It came at such a good time. It's nice to be appreciated, especially for some of the really crappy parts of the job.

That's so awesome! A coworker of mine recently had twins via gestational surrogate and it was so amazing! It inspired me to investigate surrogacy after I'm done having my own babies.
I found two red maternity shirts. I can only wear red with some sort of collar at work, so finding one red maternity shirt that works is hard enough, but 2 made my day!
I came home to my doppler in the mail and found vdub right away on it!
I also received my doppler in the mail yesterday and was super scared I wouldn't be able to find the heart beat. But I found the hb in a couple of minutes and it was the most beautiful sound that I have heard in the last couple of weeks! I was so excited!
What made ma smile yesterday - My Harmony test results came in and everything looks great!
What is making me smile today? When I get home the hubby and I are picking up our gender reveal cake from our baker. Cant wait to find out if this LO is a boy or girl!
Re: What Made You Smile Today?
Oh, and I also put on makeup and straightened my hair for the occasion tonight!! First time in weeks!!
Doing chores is foreplay for me.
Praying unceasingly for a miracle. ALL welcome!
