Breastfeeding

Breastfed baby flying on plane

Good Morning ladies!

My little one and I are set to fly next month on a 2 hour flight (she will be 4 months) I know it is recommended that a baby suck on something during take off and landings however my little one won't take a pacifier. Should I give her a bottle during that time? Recommendations? Obviously breastfeeding her would be ideal however we purchased a seat for her for her safety so looking for other options.

Also has anyone had issues getting breastmilk past security? According to the TSA website their is no limit to the quantity you can bring on board however you maybe asked to open it up for inspection.

  • We just flew with our 9 month old twins. I nursed them both on the flight, but didn't time it well with take off or landing and they were totally fine. Tbh, if the plane crashes, whether your LO is in a car seat or not, the outcome is likely to be the same. I'm in favor of saving a couple hundred dollars and holding them.

I don't think that's true. Yeah, I it crashed for 20k feet in the air it is, but if it misses the runway or something, a seatbelt could make a huge difference.

which is MUCH more likely! (still not terribly likely, but how likely is it that you'll be in a car accident driving home from work everyday?)

Totally agree that in the event of a crash there really is nothing to protect them however in the event of severe turbulence or an emergency landing the extra $150 I shelled out for her seat is totally worth my piece of mind

  • Oh forgot.... Can breastmilk not go through the X-ray machine? Or do you just inform them so they are aware of what the liquid is?
  • Thanks besides traveling by myself with the little one it's good to know I have one less thing to worry about
