Question? Reproductive Endo Vs. Fertlity Specialist

Are they the same thing? I have an endocrinologist, do I need to find a repro one? Or do I need to skip right to the fertility specialist?

I just called my local fertility center and it seems really intense, the apt and the paperwork, how do you know when it is time to see one??

    Well a reproductive endo IS a fertility specialist. Don't be swayed by OBs that claim to "Specialize in IF" I fell for that trick and basically ended up wasted months, because there's really not much they can do outside of testing (which most REs will end up repeating anyway) I know some OBs will do IUIs, but it's best to just leave all the IF business to the pros. 


    The textbook definition of IF is 1 year of actively TTC (6 months if you are over 35) without success, however most Drs do not consider a person IF until 2 years, unless you've been DX with something specific sooner. "Sometimes it just takes people longer to get KU" - That's a direct quote from my GP :P  

    Did it take you a while to conceive your first?

    Hi and THANKS!


    WE got our son on the 1st try so I am not surrounded by people who all have 2 + kids and Im's confused and annoyed.......


    I do have hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's .......Mild

    I am just in a weird place...getting angrier each day!

    Sure, I can relate to that. How long have you been actively trying? Have you been charting / using OPKs, etc? I had about 18 cycles worth of charts before I even bothered to check in with the OB. Believe me, you'd rather do EVERYTHING you can on your own, before you start having to worry about possible treatment cycles. 

    Good luck. You might fit in a bit better on the TTTC board, this board is deals more with intense IF issues, and I don't think you're quite there yet, (hopefully won't get to this point!)
