Does any of you have been dyeing their hair while pregnant? I know it's silly but in the beginning I dint want to but now it's getting in my nerves, what do you think ?
I got mine highlighted twice. OB said it was fine and the stylist didn't seem to care either. She did tell me that I couldn't do a keratin treatment though.
I was just told that they say to be hesitant during the first trimester because the dye can react differently during pregnancy because of all the craziness going on in our bodies. I was told that it wasn't harmful to the baby.

Really? I use a shampoo that has keratin in it.... now I'm curious if there's an issue there. Probably not, it's different from a treatment.
My understanding is you just have to be selective with the KIND of dye you use. Go to a professional to get it done right with the safe kind and it should be ok
Just make sure your not huffing/eating the dye. Do it in a well ventilated area. I've had my hair dyed all 3 if my pregnancies and I've never encountered a dr that said not to.

@jennicillin, I use the Organix keritin shampoo and haven't even thought of that...yikes lol. I just know that the chemical that they put straight on your hair can be super harmful to the baby in the 1st trimester. My OB never said anything about it, it was just my stylist that was adamant about me not getting one (I didn't even ask for one).
@kshare18 the Organix is what I use too! I'm sure it's fine, it's different having something be "infused" into a shampoo than directly applying the chemical
My OBGYN told me I could get my hair colored while pregnant (and I hadn't even asked about it). I'm such a worry-wart that I can't bring myself to do it.
Well the thing is that I usually do it myself so maybe I will do it with a free ammonia and on a sunny day so I can open the windows it's still Raining on the NW

My shampoo has keratin in it as well and it's fine to use per my OB and stylist. I think the issue is with the actual initial keratin treatment and not the shampoo for maintenance. I don't remember the exact reason why but I think it has something to do with the chemicals in the initial application. My hair is definitely healthier without it but OMG is it a frizzy mess if I don't straighten it!

Dyeing is fine, perms and such aren't I believe. And I think that's cause the fumes are hardcore. I'm debating doing a Brazilian blowout once baby comes. I'm tired of straightening my hair all the time to get the wavy out.
I asked my OB and she said the chemicals used in hair color nowadays are safe. She didn't specify whether it was salon color or home kits. I got lowlights at my salon in the 2nd trimester. Baby doesn't have any extra fingers or toes.
I was convinced by "Expecting Better" (great book-analyzes studies of pregnancy concerns) that dying my hair as usual would be fine. In an abundance of caution I waited until second tri.
I know a hairdresser who coloured her own hair and customers throughout her pregnancy and ended up with one blind and one developmentally slow baby I don't want to take the risk so am using brown henna. It smells bad but figure it's worth it.

I got all my color covered up recently. I went from blonde to brown with scattered blonde.
If you're worried about it talk to your OB about it and then your stylist.
