Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss
1 year later....update to 2nd tri loss (preg. ment.)
A year ago today our daughter Lila Noelle was stillborn at 23 weeks. We found out at our 21 week ultrasound that there was no amniotic fluid, and then had it confirmed via three more ultrasounds that our baby had no kidneys (renal agenesis) and therefore no chance for survival at birth.
My husband and I then had to make the most difficult decision of our lives....do we go full term with our pregnancy knowing the prognosis, or induce labour? We chose to induce labour and after 68 1/2 hours, our daughter was born weighing just less than a pound, but she was the most perfect little baby.
We took pictures of Lila, the hospital took hand and footprints and we have spent the last year thinking about our daughter, missing what we have lost and wondering how we would cope with today when it finally arrived. The one-year anniversary of her birth.
I woke up this morning and expected it to be a grey day...instead the sun is shining and I like to believe that our little baby girl is the reason why. Lila is looking down at us and sending us her warmth. Tonight, I will go home and my husband and I will spend time honoring Lila and what she means to us today, and what she will mean to us forever.
Today I am blessed to be 30 weeks pregnant (with a delivery surprise) and wish everyone here a new year filled with happiness and healthy pregnancies.
