LO won't burp!!!!

Past few days LO won't burp. I can be patting and rubbing for 20 minutes and nothing. It gives her such bad gas and she gets so upset with the farts and I'm sure it hurts. There are real tears now. Any tips on getting burps out. I've tried over the shoulder, on my knee, over my knee.....I need her to burp or she'll be in pain again. Ideas?

Try a little bounce. I will have Lucas on my shoulder and pat his butt so he's bouncing a bit and that gets some out. You can do it on your knee also kinda just bounce your knee. It's just a tiny little bounce but sometimes it gets them out.

Yes bouncing or sit her on your lap and rotate her around sometimes that gives me a good burp

I put my right palm on Cruz's chest, use my index finger and my thumb to hold his chin and pat with the left... When it doesn't work, I keep my hands in the same position (one on his upper back and one on his chest) and I lay him back down and sit him up again, applying pressure from both sides. I usually do this a couple of times and without fail he burps mid sitting up everytime, it like pushes it out of him... I hope this makes sense lol sorry if it is confusing! DH also discovered that laying him on his side in our lap and patting his back works as well. Good luck!! Those little gas bubbles are the worst

If I can't get any out, I lay him down on his belly. The pressure on his stomach usually makes him burp.

My dd is hard to burp sometimes also. If I lay her on her tummy and pay her back sometimes that works if over the shoulder doesn't.

This was me and cam two months ago. I started him on probiotics and switched bottles to Playtex AirVent (amazing bottles!!!) and it's gotten sooooo much better!

No matter how I burped him during the time he was going through that, we couldn't get burps up. We'd initially get some out during the bottle but he always had more that would be stuck.

Thanks ladies, I'll try some of these. I have tried the laying down and sitting up, it used to work, but not anymore. LO is breastfed and it is so frustrating to hear her swallow air and then not burp. She has a terrible latch when my supply tanks.

Sometimes I make LO do little baby sit ups when she can't get a burp out. I'll put my hand on the small of her back and straighten her up for a few seconds, and then let hunch back over for a couple seconds.

When LO isn't burping I lay her flat on her back.. Rub her belly for a minute sit her up again and start burping her. Works usually

My LC said that breast-fed babies are a lot harder to burp.

Thanks ladies, thought we had it this morning, but she just spat up a few mouthfuls of precious breast milk.....I'll keep trying

I sometimes hold DS under his arms and gently bounce him up and down.

I get LO over my shoulder and pat and rub for awhile. when nothing comes out, I'll walk around and gently bounce while keeping him over my shoulder and holding his head still. if nothing, I'll sit and play on the compy with him over my shoulder in hopes something pops out. my lo has a LOT of trouble with gas too. good luck!

So we had a couple of "teenage boy sized burps after drinking coke" earlier, maybe she just had a few off days. And all I did was sit her up. Odd.
