Growing up and living in practically the same place my whole life i have just gotten used to the things around me and take them for granted. I have always found myself being envious of the things other provinces/states have instead of appreciating all the beautiful things Newfoundland has to offer.
While driving down from my cabin today I was looking at all the ice and icebergs and thinking how horrible it was and how i want summer to be here. Then i thought about how much money people pay to come here and see icebergs and whales. I have grown up on the salt water and have seen these things my whole life so they don't really impress me we much as say seeing the wildlife and mountains in Alberta.
Anyways just wondering what you guys take for granted that is right outside your door that others travel far/pay money to see?
Re: NBR taking things for granted
I also sometimes wish we had a zoo around here to bring LO to. Then i think about all the wild animals we see all the time. Bears, moose, caribou, foxes, whales, seals, tons of seabirds. Is it so wrong to want the elephants though???
I've lived a lot of places and because they've all been different it's actually helped me learn not to take the natural beauty around me for granted. Since I grew up in Buffalo though I 100% took Niagara Falls for granted, and just popping over to another country for the day. When I brought friends home in college they thought both of those things were so cool so I learned to appreciate them.
I wish I could take living by my family for granted
