GTKY: share your nursery

I'm bored and super excited about all the pretty nursery decor I bought, so I thought I'd start this thread (since nobody else gives a shit about nursery decor, except a bunch of also-pregnant ladies).

I remember seeing this collection when I was pregnant with James and absolutely loving it -  it isn't a part of the permanant collection anymore, but I found it on Amazon and on clearance at BBB... which means it was all very inexpensive!  So excited to get started on nursery decorating.  Clap clap. Planning on an espresso crib and changer (the one from DS's room), and I'll find a similarly colored dresser (don't want to assemble it so it probably won't come from Target, unlike everything else).  We have a chocolate colored glider that will move into her room too, and a tall wall-leaning bookshelf for stuffed animals and memorabilia.   Walls are a light latte color from Restoration hardware, with white trim.

Can't wait!

Mine is all still in my head! I feel like a total slacker! But we are putting off evicting hubs from the office as long as possible. But I think I picked a paint color. A grey with a bit of a blue hint. And i want my mom to make me this quilt in basically those colors except maybe swap the black stripe for purple!
Oh - we haven't STARTED any of this yet -- I have just ordered things.  We have the same issue - the "bedroom" that we'll be using is currently our shared home office, so we have to move that down to the basement bedroom / guest room, which will be sort of a big project (2 desks, filing cabinets, arm chair, 2 book shelves, and a ton of CRAP all over the place).  Then we have to get rid of the bed that is in the current guest room, and find some sort of futon or sofa bed to put in there with the desks, filing cabinets, and book shelves.  I told DH that I wanted it done by early July so that in august when it is blazing hot and I'm huge and crabby I don't' have to be doing it!  But we've ordered the bedding and I'll order the furniture as soon as it goes on sale.  We aren't painting - the room is already painted the color (latte) that we want it to be, so that's easy.

  • Wow nice job those who have started. We havent done anything.  Our baby's room was being used for storage and where we keep our cat's litter box.  LOL  we have started clearing it out, we still have to have the hardwoods refinished in there, paint and decide on a theme.

Im thinking forest animals right now, but I could change my mind before that actually happens.

This baby won't have a nursery because we are probably staying in our 2 br apartment until she's about 6 months old. I've already kind of started designing it, though. The theme will be hot air balloons, based on a vintage Babar print that I ordered from Etsy. Sky blue walls with clouds, a hot air balloon mobile, and a pennant banner, with colorful bedding (purple, maybe?) I probably won't start ordering anything until we get closer to moving since we don't have a lot of room for storage.
    I love Babar. :-)

  • We haven't started yet either. Our LO's nursery is still an office, lol. We will be doing just a lot of bright Seuss-like colors - but no one theme. I really wanted a Shel Silverstein nursery, but I just do not have the time nor the energy to pull it together the way I envision it. Shel will still be present within the space though. DH seems anxious to start moving furniture all around to empty out the office. I have the furniture picked out, we just need to suck it up and buy it. We will most likely fill in the gaps on things like bedding, decor, etc. after the 2 baby showers I am going to have this summer.

@bmwaters2121 - where did you get the rug because I want one. :D

  • Here are the pieces to our puzzle, we just have to start putting them together ;)

  • @bodziochl‌ my best friend used that bedding with her little girl and she painted the nursery a very bright pink & green. I like your choice of yellow better. The only reason any of our nursery is done is because of my husband. It was a large project, there was wallpaper, a textured wall, and carpet to deal with. DH is super excited about this little girl though and can't stop working on things for her. I think it's his way of connecting. The only thing I helped with was a coat of primer.
Thats cute about your DH connecting that way.  My DH thinks that might be how he is able to.  Hes wanting a stronger connection because we are team green (MUCH to his dislike) and he isnt able to feel the baby on the outside yet.  He said seeing the ultrasounds and starting the baby's room is all he gets to feel that connecting. :-)

@ConversationFear - Thanks! I got it at Walmart for like $30 bucks!

@ bmwaters2121 - :-O Nuh-UH?!  Every rug I've seen like that has been damn near $100. I take it this was recently? Or have you had that rug for a while?

We don't have anything done yet. The room we want to use as the nursery is already painted blue and white. I think we are going with this set and in going to accent the walls with different ocean animal prints.

I'm laughing (to myself -- not about you guys!) at the notion of my husband and I talking about him "connecting" to the baby.  I think he'd look at me like I had 2 heads if I asked him if he felt connected to her. Like "um... no?  What?  Like physically?"  He's a man of few words and emotions but an awesome dad.  He'll connect when she gets here. ;-)

We have moved furniture around but that is as far as we have gotten, oh and tested a million paint colors on the walls since DH isn't seeing eye to eye with my choice of paint color! Everything else is alive and well on my Pinterest board just waiting to be put to use. It will all mostly be done in June/July when DH is home more and my Mom is coming into town to help me paint DS's furniture.

Our main colors are coral, yellow, and turquoise with a Robin's nest blue paint color by Benjamin Moore, all white furniture, and then accents with the three colors listed above. I can't wait to see how it all comes together.  I just ordered a yellow rug and I am so excited for it to get here!

I'm impressed with you ladies who are done or making lots of progress. Our nursery is painted, and that's it. :)
This! Well, kind of.  Our nursery is half painted. The other half will be painted Thursday.  We just ordered our crib today, which will be here in a week or two.  After that I have no idea what we have left to do because my brain is currently not working well. :-)

  • Love seeing all of your cute and creative ideas! We have a room with some renovations that have to be done but that's about it. Just found out its a boy today! So excited... So it will be happy pinteresting for me tonight. Will have to change my mindset a little bc I was convinced it was a girl :)
  • I'm waiting to see what we get at the shower. I'll be switching to part time this summer and we will have painters come then. (DH spoils me). So we have done absolutely nothing. We are planning Winnie the Pooh theme with yellows and greens.

  • I'm so jealous of some of these, they are beautiful! DH and I are going to go elephant crazy with no real mind to colors as long as nothing clashes, but we are going to be in a rental so no fun painting for us.

@redbaramid you actually decorating with an elephant theme or are you using the term like "bat sh*t crazy?" lol  Cuz if it's the former...have you seen this bedding etc? OMG too cute...

sooo cute! my jaw dropped a little looking at the sheet prices... please tell me that's a 3 or 4 pack?

something I found... (still a little on the pricey end but could totally work or be worth a splurge)

These sheets are also adorable if you want a pop of color.

We're also renting like some of the pp's, so not bothering to paint (cuz I'd have to paint when we move). I think we're going to try for a nature theme with whatever we buy. I found some cute green leaf sheets and some treed sheets for cheap and I have some fairytale-esque illustrations I bought for me... but that will work perfeclty with baby.

  • We just moved into our house last week. Little guy and DD will share a room so my friends and I are working on a plan at the moment. We are going to do gray walls, a turquoise ceiling and orange, turquoise and white accents. I figure it's neutral enough that we can do feminine and masculine touches for each of them. This is kind of what we are thinking. ETA: a couple of my friends are silhouette queens so we we be doing some vinyl wall prints as well as framing some stuff we make as well.
This is the exact picture we are going off of!  We're team green so we'll add purples if LO is a girl and some greens if LO is a boy.  So far we have the room painted.  Waiting on getting our windows replaced before we put down new flooring, hopefully by July so I can get the baby furniture painted and placed before I'm completely miserable!

We won't be doing a nursery for this baby, but here is our DD's nursery. We didn't want to do traditional pink so we went with Tiffany's robin egg blue. We also aren't big on themes so we found simple bedding at PBK and accented it with a custom mobile from Etsy. It ended up being a loose woodland animal theme after we added the owl lamp from Target.
I see your Coco Dot quilt!  I have Coco Dot in DD's room, too.  ;)
