We have three mothers to buy gifts for. Every year for 10+ years I've sent my mom flowers from proflowers and included MIL and stepMIL in that process over the past several years.
But I couldn't bring myself to complete the order this year when I realized that 3 $30 bonsai plants jumped from $90 to $150 with the shipping costs....and that was with a 20% discount! And would they really want $50 worth of bonsai trees anyway??? (I've cycled through all the bouquets.)
So I'm stuck. I have no idea what to get them. Zero time to shop. Only one is in town so brunch is out of question...plus it is my day to celebrate too and I really prefer the day without inlaws...if I were to be completely honest (stepMIL lives in town).
I'm exhausted and chronically sleep derived so I'm beyond rational thought. What to do???
Re: Mom's Day stressing me out!
You wouldn't know that it is supposed to also be a nice day for ME!
If I had my way DH, LO and I would go out to lunch and maybe take a nice walk and watch a movie or something chill (after DH let me sleep in of course!)
But, instead it's craziness trying to book reservations at places I dont wAnt to afford (is say can't afford but it's all relative) traveling around and everyone is just pissing me off today!
Boo
Well, I just received a text from step-SIL that she made reservations "for everyone" for MIL and so that is her, her mom, her step mom, and me = 4 mothers plus their families. I'd rather skip it but think I should suck it up for the sake of our relationships. It is SIL's first Mom's Day (my second). It was certainly kind of her to include me and my family. (Her mom is married to my DH"s dad)
I've looked on amazon...barnes and nobles...nothing is inspiring me. I could just get gift certificates. I hate them but DH's family is ALL about the GCs. Oh, I could delegate to DH.
And tomorrow is our 9 year anniversary and I've gotten DH nothing for that either.
I'm so tired. I suck at family stuff right now
Just google florists in their town and call them directly. SO MUCH EASIER and they'll work with your budget. I swear I always get people telling me I send the best arrangements (new babies, birthdays etc... this is my go-to) and I think it's because I'm calling a local shop and they're not just getting a bulk internet order.
