share ideas for staying patient!

I know many people are getting anxious at this point, even those of us with end of the month due dates!

I'm only 37+1, STM, experiencing all sorts of "labor signs" with nothing progressing. I kept telling myself not to EXPECT her to be early, but of course now it's in my head with the multitude of things happening.

So what's everyone doing to be patient? I'd say keep busy, but I have zero motivation and too much pain to do much...

I'm just trying to distract myself. Reading a good book, binge watching some TV shows, spending too much time on the internet.

I can't even keep my eyes open long enough to do these things. I never thought that being this uncomfortable and in a small to mild amount of pain would be so exhausting! Of course when it's time for bed, I'm ready for my day!

    40+2 here

NAPS! lots and lots of naps. Also, I try to accomplish at least one chore each day: water garden, vacuum, dust, laundry, etc.
  • I'm still working, which helps a little, but I've turned over all my assignments so it's starting to bore me. Naps are frequent lately - take one as soon as I get home from work. Then, it's TB and TV all night. I need a change of pace.

  • Ditto to working 39+4 and still going in. At least it's something to do instead of go crazy.
  • I'm still working so that helps a lot since I'm not at home 10+ hours a day. I'm a FTM and try to savor the rolls and kicks - I know that soon I'll have to "share" with DH and everyone else who is so excited about LO's arrival. For instance, last night, LO kept me up from 11-1 with the biggest movements I have ever felt - I thought for sure a foot would kick through my stomach. Not ideal for sleeping, but then I thought - I may never have this experience again.

After eviction sex on Monday and the worst cramps or contractions (not really sure) I have ever felt, I am done trying to get LO out - he or she will come when its the perfect time.

  • Watch TV/movies, cook from freezer meals, clean and organize. We have to get photos on the wall - we moved in almost a year ago and nothing on the walls.

Try not to troll free cycle websites for things.

Sometimes I find a wander around Walmart or somewhere gives me a while to be distracted. And to enjoy being out by myself and not worrying about a baby yet.

I did notice the stair hallway walls could use a wipe down. I'll wait for the nesting instinct to tackle that one.
  • Schedule something you'd look forward to for after your due date so that there would be a silver lining if baby's late? A massage?

I've been working a lot, but I've got a desk job that makes that relatively easy to do, even with all the late pregnancy loveliness.

Are you a planner? I've been making DH a little crazy with lists, like what we need to stock in the pantry and freezer, stuff I'd like for him to do around the house, checklists for after she makes her arrival, etc. I still need to pack the hospital bag and get the car seat installed ...

This is totally me. I have a list of things to do before baby next week while I'm off so I don't go crazy. They are little so I'll feel like I'm getting stuff done without ovet-exerting myself.

  • Great ideas! I have so much to do around the house that could keep me busy, but I feel so yucky and now I have a cold that's kicking my butt. Luckily DD1 is at the baby sitter's today. I like the idea of shopping and browsing too... maybe I just need to rest today and then get ambitious haha

  • I have a ton of things to do, but seem to never get any of them accomplished. Mainly, I have been trying to have one thing everyday to look forward to whether it is catching up on a favorite TV show, enjoying a massage or eating a snow cone.

These things. I'm off May/June due 5/19. I've cleaned/organized a little every day. I've napped. I finally got out yesterday. Had a delicious mint choco
chip ice cream w hot fudge! Got nothing on my list.. haha.. just drove around! I'm still trying not to go crazy!
  • I'm still working but I'm 1) getting really bored b/c I've transitioned most of my stuff to the girl who's doing my job while I'm out and 2) I don't give a crap anymore about my actual work and have zero motivation to do anything.

I waste a lot of time on here and other websites. I do have a 3 year old so when I am home, he keeps me occupied. I would really love to spend these last few weeks sleeping/hibernating.

  • Today is movie and wash day. My husband complained he needs to buy new cloths so I decided to wander into the spare room and find his cloths since there were none in the hamper. Bingo! I've been doing wash since 7:30am lol. He's such a pain in the butt sometimes but I'm feeling accomplished and relaxed at the same time.
  • Playing with my LO, doing random errands each day, planning my sisters baby shower, watching TV, taking naps. Only been off for three days, hoping not to have to wait too many more.

  • Working has definitely helped me stay patient. Sane & comfortable? Not so much, but I'm so focused on getting through each day, time is just slipping by.

I'm going on with life as usual and remembering that in general, fully cooked babies are healthier babies.

  • I am still working, so trying to use that as a distraction.  Though mostly I am just tired all of the time and unmotivated.
  • Working...or staying distracted with things that don't revolve around yourself

I have been sleeping a lot. Which is nice, but then I also am trying to do at least one productive thing a day, like the dishes or my laundry etc.

But I have also been making lunch plans with my working friends almost everyday too. That way I have something fun to look forward to.
