Bibs for messy eater?

DD's bibs just don't seem to cut it anymore.  I have several of the terrycloth ones that have a stretchy neck, and several plastic ones that have pockets, but somehow she gets food everywhere around the bib.  I can't seem to find anything bigger though that would cover more territory, like a bib a kid might use to paint in or something.  Anyone know where I could find something bigger or have a suggestion to try?

  • Ikea sells some with sleeves that DS uses.  DD outgrew those and then used something similar made by Kushies.  DS' were something like 2 for $4 and DD's were something like $10.  I know Bumkins (sp?) also makes a sleeved bib/smock.

Those were what I was going to recommend too.  They are great for coverage.

  • I bought DD some of the smocks from Ikea so I too was going to only half-jokingly suggest them too. lol They are wipeable so that would probably be a plus.

TRU/BRU had some that looked like they were made of silicone and had a pocket/bowl/catch thing at the bottom.

  • Thanks for the suggestions!  I swear DD can get food anywhere, she practically needs a bath after every meal.  I tried TRU/BRU and they didn't have anything, or at least ours didn't.  I'll take a look at Ikea.

ETA:  BTW is it a crime that I have yet to go to Ikea?

  • We absolutely love the Bumkins bibs.  We still use them now.  They wash well in the washer, and we hang to dry, or for mini messes you can just wipe them off.  I won't use anything else in the future.  They do sell them at BRU/TRU.

A very messy kid is so hard to handle especially when they hate wearing baby bibs. Luckily my toddler is not like that. I used TPE baby bibs for her and fortunately she doesn't mind wearing it at all. I also noticed that she's not so messy compared to those old type of bibs. Honestly, it is a bib that has a pocket but it work so well to me.
  • We alos love the Ikea bibs!
