getting really scared/nervous about delivery

I had a c-section in 2007 and am eligible for a VBAC. I am due today and am not sure what kind of delivery I want to have. The recovery from my c-section was awful and miserable. A vaginal birth however, looks really scary too! Anyone have had both types of deliveries and have an opinion on which you'd choose to do again? Thanks for the help in advance :)

    I can understand where you're coming from.  I had a rough recovery from my c/s too.  I am very much looking forward to trying for my VBAC though!  There was never any doubt for me about how I'd want to deliver this baby, but that said, I'm not eager to go through labor again and I am scared that I may go through labor just to end up w another c/s.

    Maybe see if you can find some inspiring quotes or birth affirmations to get you through your doubts?  Also reading VBAC success stories really helps me when I'm getting anxious about labor and delivery.

    yes ending up having another c-section anyway is also on my mind. I think I do want to at least try to push before giving into the c-section. My husband thinks I'm crazy, he doesn't understand why I'd want to push him out instead of just "pulling him out" as he calls it.

    I had a C-Section in February 2011. Physically, my recovery was amazing. Emotionally, I felt like I failed as a mother because I didn't have a vaginal birth. It took me a long time to not feel like a failure. I will be attempting a VBAC this time around as long as there are no health concerns. If I do end up with a C-Section, at least I know I tried. 

    Like PP said, look up different birth stories to make your choice.

    I was induced with my DS, I didn't end up having a c/s but I am nervous again this time around. My recovery was really fast and easy from having a vaginal delivery so I hope that happens again. I don't have experience with a c/s but my friend has had c/s, induced and completely natural vaginal no drugs, she said she would do the vaginal/natural over the other two in a heartbeat.

    No personal experience with a c section, but my vaginal recovery went well, even with tears. It seems to be a wide spread opinion from moms who've done both that vaginal recovery is much better.

    Honestly, I'm a bit jealous of c section moms who get to schedule their birth and know when it's coming, BUT I would so much prefer a vaginal delivery because the c section recovery scares me!! Double high five to all of you who've done it!

    I'm a FTM, but the way I look at it is that a vagional birth is the natural way of birthing a baby. Of course, there can be complications during a vagional birth and rough recoveries, but I have heard/read that they happen much less often.
    If I have to have an emergency c-section then fine, but I definitely don't prefer one and have heard many times the stories of rough recoveries.

    Thanks ladies I think I am going to go vaginal delivery this time around. The recovery does seem to be shorter and less painful from what I am hearing.

    Lurking from June 14'.  I'm due June 5th and also attempting a VBAC.  My c-section was in October 2006 and I'm a successful candidate but I'm nervous about the unknown.  GL to you!

    I had a VBAC last week. Having had both, I can say 100% try for the vaginal birth. Like you, my c/S recovery was hell. SO much easier this time. I had several second degree tears and it is still nothing compared to the pain of a C/S. Yes I was very sore for the first few days but I'm able to be up and about, showering, running errands, etc. The pain of nursing is probably worse than the vaginal soreness. Plus the experience of pushing him out and getting to hold him immediately was so cool. With the C/S I was the last to hold him, hours later. This time I was the first. :)

    @missladytay thank you, this really eases my mind a little bit. I think I am going to go for the vaginal delivery this time. I'm getting a little bit more ready everyday lol. He is 4 days late so hopefully he will decide to come soon.

    I am trying for a vbac, too. 99 percent or more of people I know who have birthed both ways say that vaginal is the way to go.
    IF DX: DOR & Fragile X pre-mutation carrier
    2011: FSH 13.3 & E 99; AMH 0.54 2nd FSH 6.2 E 40's AFC: 8
    BFP from Clomid/IUI ~ Pre-e and IUGR during pregnancy ~ DS born 9/4/12
    Feb./March 2013: AMH less than 0.16 (undectable) and AFC = 4;
    BFP from supps ~ DS#2 due May 2014
