  I would recommend trying to test twice a day, if you can, until you figure out how long your normal surge is.  Mine usually lasts 2 days...I generally see my first positive late afternoon or in the evening and I continue getting positives for the next day or two.

  Well, yes. The instructions say that afternoon and second morning urine is the best.
  
  
  Actually, I think they say any urine sample is fine. But since LH is synthesized in the morning and metabolizes in the urine later in the day, some people might not get the best results using FMU.
  
  OP - I would just try to test a time (or better yet two times) where you should be able to do it at the same time each day.

  I test twice...usually midmorning and then again late in the afternoon. I probably could drop the midmorning as I almost always detect my surge in the afternoon.

  I strongly suggest doing an opk twice a day.
  
  For the longest time I only did it in the mornings. This cycle I did both morning and afternoon and felt sooo much better about it.

  You might want to edit this out... I'm pretty sure it's a big no no on most of the boards.
