Am I in the wrong?

FIL called today and said he wanted to discuss us coming over on Mother's Day with DH. I explained that I have plans, DH works Sunday, his only days off are Wednesday's, and I was planning on coming over before Mother's Day. Needless to say he sounded pissed and we are going over tomorrow. DH said its not grandparents day its mother's day so he has my back.

Did I handle the situation wrong? I don't feel like he should be mad at me. I guess this was more of a vent.

    Is your husband going to stop by to see his mother, if so then I think all is good. But whether he does or not I don't see why you have to go over there. It's your day

    No he won't go over on Sunday. He works night's so he sleeps all day. He is coming with us tomorrow since its his day off. I thought this would be better since he would be able to see his mom.

    Yeah, I think that's fine. He's still celebrating Mother's Day with her, there's no reason for you to have to do it again.

    As long as he sees his Mom then I don't see the big deal. His schedule is what it is. You definitely get to do what you want on your day so that shouldn't matter to them either.
