I have a bunch. I'm 5'11 and look best in the swing styles, over the tube. @eyenigh and I seem to wear similar styles.
@EMarieMe While we're on the subject, I take it you didn't get the tall version of the ASOS dress if you got the gray, did you? I think tall was only in khaki. I'm hoping it isn't crazy long if regular works on you. Some tall stuff ends up being for the freakishly tall instead of normal tall!
The regular length is fairly long. But I'm not 5'11! I don't know why I wrote that above. I'm 5'9" but was spreadsheeting that day, so maybe my brain just did something wonky on me.
I think you should be good. I'm tall, but not that awesomely tall.
Re: Maxi dresses
I have a lot of feels about maxi dresses.
Some good, some bad.

I like to wear them when I am too lazy to shave my legs.

Yeah, I'm 5'11 and the potato sack syndrome is a running issue. At our height, it's sooooo much material on the straight styles. The ones that work best for me are the ones that have a little more waist tailoring and uneven hems. This is the one that I just bought from ASOS (they make tall sizes!) https://www.asos.com/Asos-Tall/Asos-Tall-Maxi-Dress-With-Drape-Pockets/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4045374&SearchQuery=Tall&Rf-700=1000&Rf900=1465&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Khaki
I had one when I was pregnant, and it was wonderful.
I recently bought another one, and it's very comfy, but a little long.
