Best diaper rash cream?

LO has a rash. So far I have tried coconut oil and Grandma El's with cloth diapers and Butt paste and anti monkey butt with disposables. It's time for the heavy guns because none of this is working.

The rash is red and flat. Any recommendations?

Re: Best diaper rash cream?

  • I swore by the prescription stuff we got from our Pedi when DD was little. It was made by a local compounding shop. Or shoppe as they all seem to be. Anyway, it was very thick, maybe ask your Pedi if they have something similar? Thank goodness DS doesn't seem to be prone to rashes like DD was. We do use Bert's Bees ointment that it supposed to be a preventative like every other day or so, so maybe that cuts down on it.

  • Dr smiths diaper ointment. I swear by it. My daughters diaper rash was horrendous and it's the only thing that's worked for us.
  • My pedi said use diaper rash cream (desitin or whatever is equivalent) and vasoline mixed 1/1 is best. I use it on DS every time I change a poopy diaper and he has never had a diaper rash.

  • We usually do coconut oil, but it isn't helping this time and isn't to the point I need to call the doctor. im hoping to not try twelve creams. Thanks for the input :)

  • We used calmoseptine in the beginning and it worked wonders. Also helped when LO had a little raw spot under his neck folds from spitting up and drooling. Cleared it up in one application.

  • Our pedi gave us a recipe that was one tube of desitin, one tube of bacitracin, one tube of zinc oxide, and 1 tbsp of mylanta or maylox. It worked great. I also put a little neosporin on the rash if it's bad...not sure if that's recommended or not, but it didn't hurt him and really helps clear it up fast.

We use extra strength butt paste plus aquaphor or honest healing balm. No wipes only warm water and wash cloth. Lots of diaper free time.

  • Try some vasaline. It's weird but it's the only thing that cleared up DS's rash. Just make sure to clean the rash up well first though.

I also vote for Triple Paste if it's really bad. For prevention or clearing up just a little red, California Baby Calming or Burt's Bees diaper creams have both worked very well.

  • Pink xav!!!!! It's the best and has been for years and years!
  • The purple desitin
  • My Walgreen's didn't have triple paste. I ended up with the store brand of purple destitin. And refilled the nystatin prescription because a new yeasty spot popped up. X( Yeast is a beast with cloth.

  • another vote for vaseline here!  I actually did buy like 10 creams when we had issues, & we actually ended up having to switch to sensitive diapers/wipes, but the vaseline helped clear things up in the transition & we have used it ever since! amazing!  just make sure you dry the butt first before applying.
