My LO eats table foods really well, but won't eat vegetables anymore. When she was only on purees, I could feed her any vegetable puree and she would eat it no problem. Now that she is only feeding herself, she will pick around the vegetables I give her.
I am not TOO concerned about nutrition, because she eats healthy foods and loves (LOVES!) fruit, but I want her to develop healthy eating habits.
If I put different foods on her tray at once, she will eat the fruit, then the starch or meat, then the vegetables. Or sometimes won't eat the veggie at all. If I hide the veggie in the food, she can pick it out and eat everything else. I once made her macaroni and cheese and hid corn in with the pasta because I figured she couldn't tell the difference because it was all the same color. She could tell the difference, and didn't eat the corn.
Before you suggest I JUST give her veggies one meal, or give them first before everything else, I have tried that. She will usually just play with them or throw them on the floor and then I end up having to give her the stuff she will eat so she won't be hungry.
Besides this veggie issue, she is not picky at all and will eat almost anything else we give her. She tends to like "strange" foods - like she LOVED the watermelon/feta salad I made my husband and I, and she ate pasta salad made with balsamic vinegar like a champ. I would have figured that feta cheese or balsamic would be too strong of flavors for a baby. So I don't think this veggie issue is due to them having stronger flavors.
Ideas??
