Music Exposure

Hey ladies!
Is anyone playing music for the bundle of joy? Has anyone invested in belly buds? Or just singing to he or she?

What specific tunes or genre do you find yourself since your pregnancy?

I really wish my baby boy could hear what I listen to through my headphones! ;;)

    Great topic - I just bought some belly buds and was wondering if it was too early to use them! I'm going to start next week (week 17 for me) with some classical. But then the ol' 80s/90s hip hop will eventually make its appearance ;)

  • I've got music going all the time - and always loud in my car - but I haven't bought the belly buds yet. I might have to do that tonight.

  • I've never heard of belly buds and now I must investigate!

    I will be introducing my little one to the Dropkick Murphy's, Zeppelin, Rob Zombie and Volbeat this weekend, then at 34 ish weeks he'll get a dose of Motley Crüe. We love rock concerts.
  • Mostly just me in the car and shower so far. I am a classically trained vocalist, so our LO will probably hear a lot of that.

  • I'm an orchestra teacher, and as I was playing cello today with one of my classes, I wondered if the baby could hear it!

  • No belly buds and we didn't do them last time, but I do listen to music a lot. DD has been in music class since she was six months so we listen and sing to her CDs all the time. I imagine with that much exposure the new baby will already be familiar with all of the songs. I will probably start the new baby in music class younger since we want DD to continue since she loves it so much and it will be easier to bring both of them.

  • That's beautiful @Katedann‌ 8->
  • I made a CD of songs to listen to in the car that easy for me to sing along to and make me happy, as well as a CD of classical music I love. I plan on playing it on repeat to see if baby ends up liking or recognizing any later on. It's a mix: some disney, some bluegrass, mostly indie. Not doing headphon es though because I listen to music somewhat loud anyway lol.

    What are your favs?? I've got Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture, Rossini's Barber of Seville Overture, an opera performance of Figaro's Aria, Festive Overture by Shostakovich, and Beethoven's piano sonatas as well as some film scores I like. (Apparently I also really like overtures? hahaha) Plus I play my Mozart station on Pandora when I'm doing chores around the house.

  • I love my classical station on pandora! I also listen to a lot of Tchaikovsky on a YouTube station. I am pretty much a fan of any Beethoven! I love scores as well! One of my faves is "Requiem for a Dream", I feel like a big goof driving listening to it getting excited when the song reaches it's climax! Lmao I also like Orff, "O Fortuna" and Escala's " "Barbers Adagio for Strings." Overture's are a plus as well!! @ScientistLibrarian‌
