New Mom: 25 weeks pregnant - Fetal movements question

I think I'm just a bit nervous because I was told soon I'll have to keep count of movements. My daughter has moved today, but not that much. Should I be worried. I've had a movement here or there but not as much as she can do.

Any advice and words to calm would be greatly appreciated.

  • I'm 25 weeks too, the kicks are inconsistent. Sometimes I get nervous I haven't heard from the baby all day so I lay my side to jostle him and get a kick, terrible I know but it gives me peace of mind. Try not to sweat it, the baby's still small and the kicks will get more frequent and noticeable.

  • Keep in mind too if you are moving around a lot you may not notice movements or baby may be rocked to sleep! I have learned babies patterns and when she seems move active!

  • Regular movement doesn't really happen til about 28 weeks. It's pretty normal for some women to just now (at 25 weeks) start feeling movement. If you're really concerned you can always call your OB and see what they say.
  • I am almost 29 weeks and no anterior placenta.  I barely feel mine, but doc says she is fine and right on schedule.  Talk to your OB.

  • I'm finding with my Babycakes (I'm at about 26 and a half weeks) that she'll have certain times of day when I can feel her wiggling around and kicking, and other times when she's very still. I also notice she'll go a couple days being really active, and then go a day or two when she doesn't seem to do much. I also find whenever I drink orange juice, it gets her going.

But I think every baby is different. I've been talking with some coworkers (who are only too happy to share their experience), and several have mentioned that one of their kids was really active while the other wasn't. I think as long as you're feeling some movement, even if it's not a super strong kick, it's still a good sign.

  • Thank you all:) she has her moments when she's super active and other times she not. I also have her be super active one day with hard kicks and then it's like she conserves her energy for a few days which is what had me nervous (if she can do that some of the time shouldn't it be all of the time?) lol ugh I need to just relax and enjoy as long as I'm feeling her move. You ladies helped a lot. I will make sure to talk to my doc if I'm ever too worried I think I'm just being overly aware at the moment lol.

    Thank you all again:)
