Books into movies

What books would you like to see turned into movies?

One of my favorite author's had one her books (Carter Street Hangman) made into a movie with Keeley Hawes and but I would love to see that remade.
Character - Thomas Pitt / Actor - Robert Pattinson or Andrew Garfield  Character - Charlotte Pitt / Actress Keeley Hawes, Emma Watson, or Carey Mulligan

I would also love to see A Discovery Of Witches series made.
Haven't formed an opinion yet.

The Pendergast books made into a movie series.  That made one of the Pendergast books into a movie, but it was soooo completely horrible that I don't even count it.
Chacater - Aloysius Pendergast / Actor - Benedict Cumberbatch     Character - Evil brother Diogenes / Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Paul Bettany,

Since Downton Abby is so popular I think that Bess Crawford series would go over well.
Not sure about this yet either.

What are your choices and who do you think should play who?

  • I know this counts as a remake but I'd love to see Whoopie Goldberg as the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz, Nathan Lane as the Cowardly Lion and Jim Carey as the Scarecrow.

It would be nice if they made a good Hulk movie.

  • So it would be a remake of The Wiz @bcbuzzafsu?

If the remake The Hulk I will only watch it with Mark Ruffalo.

I would love to see Velocity by Dean Koontz turned into a movie. I imagine it as a Criminal Minds meets Saw (the original) type movie.

Description: Bill Wile is an easygoing, hardworking guy who leads a quiet, ordinary life. But that is about to change. One evening, after his usual eight-hour bartending shift, he finds a typewritten note under the windshield wiper of his car. If you don’t take this note to the police and get them involved, I will kill a lovely blond schoolteacher. If you do take this note to the police, I will instead kill an elderly woman active in charity work. You have four hours to decide. The choice is yours.

  • Most of my favorites have all been adapted already. I always try to read a book pre-movie because they always seem to screw something up.

Sometimes they make changes in movies that make no sense whatsoever. Did anyone read and see The Count of Monte Cristo? One of the best book endings ever and the movie changed it. I was so mad.

  • I'm not a book to movie fan.  I absolutely hated how they changed My Sister's Keeper.

First @irishheartrechic, I would break all of those commendments with wih Dean or Jensen Espsally # 3, repeatedly.  heheeh

Second, I'm so glad someone other than myself knows the Pendergast series.  Years ago they made Relic with Tom Sizemore and Penelope Miller and is sucked soooo bad, and it didn't even feature Pendergast, so a good movie would be awesome.  I think Cabinet Of Curiosites would be a good one.  I can' remember the name of the book, but the one w/his crazy aunt in the mental asymlum would make a good movie version.

@nosoup4you - THIS made me so angry. I left the theater in a fury. I also read somewhere that Jodi Picoult was pissed about it, too.

What did you all think of the Hunger Games movies compared to the books? I was pleasantly surprised. The books were definitely better, but they didn't botch the movie as much as I thought they would.

I have only seen the first movie so far, but I was happy with it. I was surprised that it was so good. I loved the books so much that I thought there was no way the movie could meet my expectations. Hoping the second is as good. I thought the casting really made the movie. I love rather unknowns so that I don't associate the person with another character.
