Long-distance, post-baby gift ideas!!!

A friend of mine lives in Seattle, and I'm in North Carolina.  Instead of gifting her with one baby gift before LO's arrival, I'd like to send her several smaller gifts AFTER the baby comes, so she still feels remembered, special and is encouraged.  I was thinking a $10-$20 gift every week for 6 weeks or so.

I thought of a small nursing theme box with magazines and snacks, but I'm having trouble remembering what I would have liked in those weeks after baby was born (besides necessities like pads, nipple cream, etc).

Any ideas for treats for a new mom weeks 2-6 or so PP?

  • Bamboobies makes a set of soft cold packs that I used several times during the first few weeks. I wish you could buy and send sleep and time for showers! You could do some pacifiers or bottles in case she has to try several different types.

One thing I hadn't thought of before the baby was a door knob muffler. It wraps around the knob so you don't have to twist the handle. You can just push the door open and avoid that "click" noise. Even if baby isn't sleeping in the nursery full time, there are still naps and stuff where I found it really helpful. Etsy has tons and tons of options, I just picked a random one so you could see the concept. It's definitely in the price range. https://www.etsy.com/listing/183981642/baby-nursery-door-jammer-for-baby-boy

Also, burp cloths. I never seem to have enough. I've found I really love the Aden + anais Burpy bibs (a single one is about $10) and it'll grow with the baby since it can be used as a bib or a burp cloth.

You could have something delivered like Shari's Berries, or I think Mrs Fields delivers cookies too. Or even just flowers one week would make her feel special.

Maybe a tube of lipstick or a new eyeshadow if she's into that kind of thing? A bottle of bubble bath or a new lotion could also be nice.

  • I'm in NC too! Where are you, if you dont mind me asking?

I really enjoyed using those nipple gel pads. And I second the paci and bottle idea from a PP!

  • These are fabulous ideas, thank you!

@jcwinsto‌ this is exactly what she did for me when Warren was born. It was awesome.

Check out Earth Mama Angel Baby. My sister sent me a post-baby package and in it was EMAB nipple butter and "bottom balm" (which can also be used other injuries, rashes, etc. - I've used it on LO's neck when she had a raw area in her skin folds and it was gone the next day).

The website has a bunch of different sections - pregnancy, post-partum, baby, breastfeeding, soaps, gifts. Pretty reasonable prices too. I haven't used any other products but I love the two I have tried.

The rest of the package was just for me - bath salts, a fancy chocolate bar, a Starbucks gift card, and some fancy undies (I forget the brand, but they're specifically made to fit a variety of sizes. They're lacy but stretchy and soft/comfortable). Everything I got from everyone else was for the baby, so it was really nice to feel a little pampered just for me.
