Train track set recommendations

DS is currently obsessed with cars (or "Caaahs" as he says with a Boston accent even though we've never been to Boston). I think he'd really dig a train or car track, and wanted to see if anyone had recommendations for toddler car/train track sets. Something not too big - we don't have room in our house for a big toddler table with a track on it.

I'd get a starter Thomas set. They aren't too big and come with trains and tracks.

I think the Thomas stuff, while super cute, is too expensive. We got the TRU brand train set and my son likes that quite a bit. It works with the Thomas wooden train tracks & the Chuggington wooden trains. I think Target had an off brand set as well. Or look for used... They hold up really well and can get much more for the money. We have a basket that everything is stored in when done because we just don't have the space for a train table.

There are plastic Thomas sets are less than the wooden. Getting used is a great way to go!

Geotrax are fantastic. My kids played with them from about 18 mo till about age 7, and then we sent them over to my nephews. My kids (9 and 7) still play with them when
we visit. No table needed, just set them
up on the floor.

We have the Vtech gogo smart cars train station set which he loves! You can also purchase other sets and cars to go with each set. He can now put the track together too. I would highly recoomend it.

you might need to get two sets, and this is compatible with some of the other types
